After visiting a couple of ruins, we were surprised with a wonderful float down a crystal clear channel. Great way to cool off and relax. Boat ride across two crystal clear lagoons and through a Mayan made channel. The float is through a natural channel. One of the highlights of our trip.

Our experience was consistent with the majority of reviews on this site. Initially, it seemed a lot of money for a family of 5 however by the end of the day, we could safely say it was worth every $ and ranks as one of the best we have been on.
There was initially a hiccup as on arriving to meet the Guide (Aldo) on our designated day, we were told there had been a mistake and we were asked if we could come the next day. That wasn't a problem for us fortunately and the tour company made a generous offer to refund part of the fee for the inconvenience.
We perhaps got lucky as the next day was slightly better weather and the sea very calm, perfect for the snorkelling that not everyone gets to do.
We loved the fact that our tour covered a variety of things, none of which were rushed and we were left to enjoy each at a very comfortable pace - snorkelling, exploring a sandbank/beach, the float down the Mayan canal, lunch on the boat and a bit of time to spot Manatees (we just caught sight of a snout!). Zipping through the mangroves was especially fun.
Aldo is a solid guide, pointing out wildlife, explaining the area and clearly concerned about ensuring it is protected, as well as interacting well with younger children.
One tip: on the float, as there are a number of other tour boats and people floating down at the same time, hold back so you can enjoy it in peace. The folks in front of us were a bit of a loud babbling rabble which seemed to defeat the reason for going there, so we resisted the flow of the water, and cruised down in relative silence. That was lovely and a little more in tune with nature!
Also, bring bio-sunscreen and even long sleeves.
Highly recommended.

Aldo, our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. We had a great tour even though the reef was to choppy for snorkeling. The float down the Mayan canal was the best. Lunch was delicious! Highly recommended!

We are a family of 4- kids aged 8 and 5. This trip with Aldo was the highlight of our time in Mexico! There was so much to see and learn - ever our hard to please 8 year old said "it was only boring for 5 minutes". :-) Aldo was also super responsive - we got on the trip with 24 hours notice.
Note: you meet Aldo 9 km from the entrance to the park - about a 25 min drive from Tulum beaches.

We drove out a bit early and went down to the bridge and had lunch on the beach (follow the path right before the bridge).

THANK YOU ALDO FOR A WONDERFUL DAY!

We took the tour during our stay in Tulum and really enjoyed it. The organisation and communication via email beforehand was easy and very friendly. The tour itself was wonderful, it was a shame we couldn't snorkel. But that's nature!
Only small point of criticism: For us it was a bit too centered around birds. We like them but are no great bird enthusiast and after the 10th black winged feathery friend we zoned out a bit ;-) unfortunately the rest of our group seemed to be very interested so we went with it. Future tip: maybe also more information on flora and history/culture of the reserve! Otherwise absolutely grand day!!
