We have oh-so very busy lives! Back in June, we decided to book a trip to Tulum, Mexico. We decided to spend our entire holiday -3 weeks, in Tulum. It is always a little daunting to pick a place from so far away with very little information to go with. We based our decision on the Trip advisor reviews and our 1 most important criteria: a cabin on the beach.
We ended up being very lucky and absolutely adoring everything about our little place on the beach.
It is just incredible to fall asleep every night to the roaring sound of the waves! As well as being serve on our patio a great selection of fruit, homemade granola and yogurt as well a coffee and tea every morning.
We tried to do as little as possible while on our vacation and if every 3 o 4 days was occupied with nearby activities, the rest of the time we spent it relaxing, reading books or making sand castles on the beach just in front of our little place.
There is no kitchens or fridges available on the premises but we still managed to shop at the Tulum grocery store and made simple dinners (if not dinning out to one of the many brilliant nearby restaurants).
We look forward to coming back here!

Room Tip: We stayed at Rubi, but we will definitely stay in the other beach front cabin next time called Zafir...

I stayed here in January with my wife. We spent a few nights at Teetotum in town and moved to Posado Lamar to have a few days on the beach. We loved just hanging out in rubi right on the beach and walking around the beach during the day checking out all the good spots to hang out. For just a 10 peso tip to the kid at night he turned our power on when we got back late one night.

We with a wife had a very relaxing and romantic stay in Posada Lamar. Ecological bungalow on the sea shore. Nice design, good location. Friendly, helpful staff. It was sad to leave it and we hope to come back.

Room Tip: We stayed in "Zefira" which is on the beach with a front sea view and would recomend it fo...

We recently spent 3 wonderful nights at Posada Lamar by a shear stroke of good luck! After arriving in Cancun 5 hours late...and now in the dark... we got our rental car...and now breaking my own safety rule of never highway driving in Mexico after dark...headed south with intentions of making Akumal or Tulum...missed the Akumal turnoff and ended up on the Playa Tulum road where there are dozens of inns and small hotels. As usual we were "flying" by the seat of our pants...with no hotel reservations...so after a brief stop for some dinner and cervezas, we start our hotel search at 11pm. First place we stop was Posada Lamar, where the late night desk clerk/security guy shows us a couple different accommodations for a reasonable price...with nothing to compare this to, we decide to look at a couple more places. Well, 2 additional looks later, we head right back down the road to Posada Lamar. We rent a very nice bungalow for the night...and sleep great in a very comfortable king-size bed. I woke early and walked the approximate 40 feet to the beach and watched sunrise over a beautiful ocean. Needless to say, we spent the rest of our stay there. Bungalow Esmerelda was great!

Additionally, the proprietor was a very nice woman who was quite helpful. She pointed us to a great restaurant (at Casa Violeta) for an excellent dinner, and to a real "locals" place for some fried snapper straight from the sea. All of the staff were extremely polite and helpful...and the breakfast served on the patio of our bungalow was equally good...melon, mango, banana, papaya, toast and jam, and good coffee. They'd even come down to the beach in morning to tell us are food was being served.

The place was very clean, uniquely designed with local wood, tree trunks, and palm thatch. Posada Lamar is off the grid and relies on a wind generator and solar panels to store energy during the day, so there is no power during the day...but who really needs power during the day at a beautiful place with a wonderful breeze next to a beautiful sea...at night there is power to run a fan and lights in the cabana and along the walkways. So in short, Posada Lamar is a great place to stay, and during my next trip to the area I will definitely be a return customer. Oh, almost forgot, on the last morning we were there you could see the "trail" of a sea turtle that came up that night and laid her eggs at the crest of the beach immediately next door. Way cool!

and even better than the first visit two years ago. this time we stayed in zafiro, the larger bungalow by the sea. while it didn't have the cross breeze of the garden bungalow we had stayed in previously, it had large front windows and a beautiful deck overlooking the sea. what i love best about posada lamar is the organic shape of the cabanas. everything is rounded - there are very few sharp edges or right angles used in the interior construction. everything flows beautifully. the beachfront is one of the best in tulum, and the first night we were there a sea turtle laid her eggs thirty feet from our room. the staff is lovely and accommodating. we looked at several comparably priced properties and posada lamar blew them away. highly recommended.

Room Tip: the second garden bungalow from the beach on the right as you look toward the sea is nice and breezy...
