I was very impressed with this resort from the very beginning compared to others we’ve stayed at in Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cancun, Riviera Maya & Puerto Vallarta. The Sunset resort is set in the cliffs of Cabos San Lucas next to the Pacific Ocean. Scenery is breathtaking. No ocean swimming at Sunset because of the riptide. I would suggest that this resort put out beachside lounge chairs in the sand so tourists can still enjoy the sun, breeze & ocean waves. Check-in with Jonathan (sorry Jonathan, tripadvisor wouldn't let me post your last name) was quick & effortless, he was professional & very courteous. Our ocean-view room was gorgeous & we watched the whales every morning on our balcony. Our building was next to a swimming pool & hot tub that wasn’t used very often by others & it felt like our own little private getaway. You do need to take the “shuttle” as the hills are steep but the golf cart drivers are fast to pick you up & are a lot of fun to ride with. Our rooms were clean overall but cleaning all of the dirty tile baseboards does need to be done. However, the entire grounds was always clean. All of the staff were mostly friendly but wi-fi was spotty & we weren’t able to use the resort app that most of the staff was always asking us for, which was very annoying to...I was very impressed with this resort from the very beginning compared to others we’ve stayed at in Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cancun, Riviera Maya & Puerto Vallarta. All of the staff were mostly friendly but wi-fi was spotty & we weren’t able to use the resort app that most of the staff was always asking us for, which was very annoying to constantly have to say wi-fi isn't working for us. Room service was included (I think only because of covid) & was mostly fast; there were no restaurants open all night. Refrigerators in the room are not stocked & they only bring you one bottle of water & two beers per person, which also was annoying. The market place was our favorite place to eat for the variety of different restaurants. A special shout out to Jose & Armando at the 1950’s restaurant for great food & great service! The food was mostly great wherever we ate at on the resort. The poolside grilled burritos were one of our favorite items to order. We had read about the poolside chicken kabobs from other reviewers but they were not included in the all inclusive plan & were an up-charge. It’s very confusing when the up-charge items are listed in with the all inclusive food items. Up-charge items need to be on a separate menu themselves or at least on their own page to distinguish them apart from what’s included …. and why are there even up-charge items? An all inclusive resort has always meant before that all food & beverages are included, except for special a-la-carte restaurants. There were up-charge items at every restaurant/food place & on all menus. Our family chooses all inclusive resorts so we don’t have to worry about carrying money for anything. I’m deducting one star because of that & because of the endless having to sign for any & ALL food & beverage items, which is extremely annoying & I’m not sure what the purpose for it even is. I was told by several resort employees that the Pacifica resort was included & it was listed as being included when I booked through Expedia. However, we were ultimately told it is not included while staying at Sunset, Rose or Los Cabos & I’m very disappointed in that. We took the free shuttle to Sunset’s sister properties to swim in the ocean at Rose & Los Cabos in downtown Los Cabos. Rose & Los Cabos are right next to each other. The beach at both resorts is a public swimming beach so good luck finding lounge chairs. These two have more of a hotel feel whereas the Sunset has more of an upscale resort feel. The shopping in Los Cabos is not the traditional Mexico prices I’m used to seeing but more like California pricing, ie $40 for a sweatshirt. However, we did find reasonably priced items from the beach vendors at Rose & Los Cabos. The sky pool at Sunset Resort is STUNNING with its 3 levels but we were kicked out shortly after entering the water and the pool immediately closed because some drunken jackass did a back flip off of the 3rd level down to the 2nd level & landed on & injured a man whose head was bleeding & was taken to the hospital. Thanks jerk! Sadly we were not able to make it back to the sky pool before we left because it has limited hours & is off limits to hotel guests for private events; again, very disappointing. My favorite things at Sunset: the pina coladas at the lobby bar - YUM, poolside burritos, breakfast buffet, whale watching, the stunning Sky pool when the sun sets on the ocean & all of the incredible staff. Thank you for the most beautiful and fun trip ever that I’ve enjoyed the MOST of any other trip that I’ve ever gone on.More
