While staying at the Esperanza my wife and I were discussing (a) the culinary rut we seemed to be in when visiting Cabo, (b) the fact that the cab into town had risen to $25 from $17 since our visit in May, and (c), the fact that Ediths was closed until October 1st. So I did a quick TA search and low and behold found that Toro, right up the road from us, was highly recommended. I guess we have been driving by it for years!

Anyway...Toro: a modern bar and restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and a Latin inspired menu. If you are looking for a burrito or enchilada this is not your place. But if you crave great cevechi (try the yellow), grilled octopus (up there with the best), thinly cut Spanish ham, sea bass or snapper in a sauce of peppers, fennel, cherry tomatoes and onion, or large shrimp in something similar, this is your place.

Try It! It will be a great add to your must visit list!

My wife and I decided to dine here after a recommendation from the concierge at our resort. Let me just tell you from beginning to end it was an excellent experience.

The hostess sat us at a very nice, romantic table outside with a great view. On the way to the table we passed by 4 or 5 staff members that all greeted us. Our server Bruno handed us the wine menu and explained it to us. He also guided us through the regular menu making a few suggestions.

For drinks we both got the first one on the specialty drink menu. My wife ordered the Peruvian ceviche and empenadas for us to share, tortilla soup for her and I ordered Argentinian skirt steak with Mexican rice.

Long story short the food was amazing, lots of flavor for everything, the steak was cooked just how I asked (medium well) and the service was great. We would definitely go back next time we're in Cabo and recommend that anyone looking for a great meal with great service at a good price check Toro out.

The miso/chipotle-glazed fish is among the best fish I have ever had - truly amazing. The appetizers were also outstanding. Lovely service. We loved it so much, we went back a second time in one week. Wonderful live music was a bonus for our second meal!

We've been to Toro on our last two visits to Cabo and each time was a perfect dining experience. The waitstaff are friendly, nice and very fun. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.... even the steak, which I didn't eat of the guys were with loved it. The Angry Tuna and Angry Salmon rolls were spicy but delicious and the tacos were all incredible.

My wife and I have been to the Toro Latin Kitchen twice before and both times were great experiences. Unfortunately this time was a different result. We were seated at a great table and were ready for a fun culinary experience. We brought our own bottle of wine in to enjoy with our meal and the waiter arrived and offered to uncork the bottle to let it breathe and we started with cocktails. The waiter opened the bottle and for the entire rest of the meal, never once touched the bottle again. He never presented the cork and when we asked for it, he had already thrown it away. We poured our own wine the whole meal. My Fillet was ordered medium and was received nearly well done, gray in the middle, no moisture, but it couldn't be fixed, because after dropping the plates the waiter did not return for 23 minutes. We looked around for help and although there were other staff around, it seemed like the perfect table earlier in the night, was just the perfect table to ignore. I finally got up and asked someone to get our waiter, when he arrived, I told him we were done with the meal but wanted a dessert menu. Hoping for something chocolatey to help finish off the red wine...instead of taking our order, the waiter in a vain attempt to cover up for a poor effort at the meal, brought a free dessert. Unfortunately it was nothing we wanted, sweet corn cake candied almonds and rompope topping on ice cream...not the flavor profile we were hooping to actually order! To be fair, my wife's NY strip was ordered Medium rare and arrived medium, but was such a nice juicy cut of meat that it was fine for her. Overall a serious disappointment to what have been a great experiences in the past, but seeing the plethora of great restaurants in Los Cabos, we will probably never go back.
