I have to say this is one of my favorite places to visit which is why I gave it a 4 star rating. With that said, I have had the luxury of traveling to some of the finest hotels in the world so my comparisons are coming from my extensive travel resume.
Grounds: Beautifully kept, lush vegetation, impeccably clean
Food: Top notch. Arbol is exceptional
Service: Above average. Sometimes inconsistent
Pool: Best in Cabo
In Room Amenities: Average. Bath robe rough as sand paper
What reels people in to this place is that they do the little extras like cleaning your sunglasses by the pool. The problem is, once you have had this service, you want it every time. Sometimes they offer, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they move the umbrellas at breakfast to keep the sun off your face, sometimes they don't.
Butler service is ok, but nothing like a true butler. Most people haven't experienced a true butler so they are none the wiser. This coupled with the fact that the telephone extension doesn't work or sends you to the front desk makes this service perplexing. What is the point of having a butler if the wait time is an hour by the time the front desk communicates our needs? That is, if the front desk relays the message to the butler at all.

My last visit was wonderful, but I always seem to leave with a bad taste in my mouth. The last morning, I wanted a quick snack on the beach before it was time to go. I ordered a grilled cheese and they charged me $25. The issue is this, if you charge astronomical prices, then I expect perfection. Yes I will not be pleased with anything less that perfect with the prices I pay here. No ooey gooey American cheese, but a luke warm cheddar that hard already hardened. And the bread was way too thick.
In summation, if you think the rooms are expensive, that is just the tip of the iceberg. They are full throttle from start to finish and never relent. Massages are $450 a person, probably not including gratuity. So if you expect a spa visit, be prepared.
We did splurge on the magic show dinner that was $900 for us as a couple. It was amazing. The magicians were top notch. Still, we couldn't quite figure out why it was so expensive. Even having a wonderful time, the intense desire for extreme profitability of Rosewood takes away from the experience at Las Ventanas.More
