We took the bus into Puebla from MEX city airport and managed to walk in from the Puebla bus station to the hotel in 15 minutes. I won't repeat other reviews but the legendary NH breakfast here was great and we didn't get bored with it after 3 days. Check in was easy and the room was clean and well equipped. Consistent with other NH hotels it was a low allergen environment with no carpet and a clean wood floor.
Shower pressure as a whole in Mexico isn't great and on par with the 1970s UK plumbing but apart from that the bathroom was well equipped (no bidet though) and clean. (No mould etc).
The room and bed smelt fresh with no odours and we had no issues.
My only bug bear was the AC which unlike the NH and MEX airport continued to whir through the night even through the temperature had been reached.
Overall good service but the only concern I had was with the concierge which to give the benefit of the doubt may have been a misunderstanding. Around 930am I inquired about tours to Africam- a nearby Safari Park (yes in Mexico and a good one). The concierge advised that one could be arranged for 10am and that and English speaking driver in a large vehicle would arrive shortly. When he did arrive he could not speak English and the vehicle was a small unbranded compact car that looked a like a private vehicle. I had my doubts about whether this was an "official" tour company and politely declined. We then walked across to the tourist office ( 7 minutes walk to the Zocola) and managed to get onto an official sightseeing tour that left at 11am for exactly the same price the concierge offered.
My advice would be to only buy tours through the Tourist office ensuring that they are bona-fide tour companies and not some hotel staff's mate.
Apart from that slight hiccup NH lived up to its usual high standards.
One tip if you are going to Oaxaca by bus. The website will not accept non Mexico credit cards but a small kiosk inside a mall called Plaza Dorada accepts all overseas credit cards including AmEx. It is 7 minute bus ride from the centre of the town. Just ask the Tourist office and they will help.
