Not overcrowded and great to swim in! It was wonderful to jump in after the long jungle hike. Very clean.

We took a tuk tuk out to Tatai Waterfall during some down time in Koh Kong. The trip cost $9 from the Koh Kong roundabout including waiting time at the falls. We didn’t realise it at the time, but the road there isn’t really made for this style of transport; best to go by motorbike as you can see from the photos.

The falls themselves are not spectacular but are a nice diversion. Oh, and entry costs $1 per person. There are various little shops at the site selling beer, soft drinks and fruit. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours.

In a dry season is probably better to visit the waterfall in the morning or after 3 p.m.,in the meantime it is occupated by crowds of local and Asisan tourists playing music quite loud. You can still find "your" spot up the river though.

It was quite a ride to Tatai Waterfall by boat as we did not go by speedboat. The boat actually went further away from the waterfall, making a loop before heading back towards it (ie. basically for sight-seeing). When we approach the waterfall, we thought it was smaller than we had imagine it to be.

The boatman stopped the boat against the rocks, and we got off the boat and make a short trek to the waterfall. It was a nice stroll around the waterfall, walking on the rocks with the cool water flowing underneath your toes. If you came prepared, you can also swim there as some have done.

The view was amazing too. At the top, you can see the gentle water flow, and the water moving faster against crevices before the waterfall. Be very careful though - the rocks are slippery and 2 tourists fell as they walked on the rocks while we were there.

A sad thing though - other than plastic trash littered near the stalls set up to sell drinks and snacks at the top of the waterfall, there is were many empty beer cans and even pills left on the waterfall by inconsiderate visitors.
