A perfect getaway to do with the family. Lots of activities and the food was excellent. Beach is perfect and private. The spa was like no other and the pools were clean and enjoyable. Staff was friendly.

We have never been to a resort twice until the Azul Ixtapa Grand. After our vacation in February we returned in March.
The rooms are clean, spacious and all have beautiful ocean views. The food was good at the buffet and even better in the
a la carte restaurants. The staff are what really made the difference for us. We had so many staff go out of their way to make sure we were happy. I can’t mention everyone but a few stood out. Around the pools Abel, and Roberto were quick with a smile and your drinks. Hugo in the sports bar was amazing! Amiliano and everyone else in the a la carte restaurants were exceptional. I hope that their efforts are recognized by the management.
If I could make one suggestion it would be that the infinity pool with the swim up bar and ocean view should be adults only.
We hope to return again next year!
Karen and Mike Little

I didn't write a review 2 years ago but this resort needs to be recognized....

STAFF:
- restaurant reservation desk - every girl there was friendly and helpful but Anel was our favourite (so friendly, always smiling when we would see her and very efficient)
- Pool servers - Roberto still a pool server and awesome as ever; Felipe de Jesus kept drinks coming; Nicolas and Abel all so great - friendly and quick with our drinks
- Oyster Bar a la carte - Juan Luis, Mario, Angel, and Stephany (hostess) treated us so great and Antonio was awesome and funny-he spoke great English!
- Mexican a la carte - Filiberto was our awesome waiter and he was at Italian too!
- Oriental a la carte - Jose Luis and Francisco; Emiliano, Edgar and Carlos great service
- Italian a la carte - Marcos so entertaining and awesome and Joel; Filiberto was in there too (they made me feel super special on my birthday with cake, balloons, champagne and singing)
- our maid Evencio was awesome - he was amazing with flower creations in our room and we never had any problems with our room; always clean and well stocked with essentials
- Hugo lobby bar waiter is crazy!! Mario also a great lobby bar waiter.
- Beautiful Ana (hostess) and Alejandro in breakfast buffet and Mexican a la carte for lunch was the best! Alejandro treated us like family
- Even life guards became our friends-they are serious about their jobs, but still friendly - shout-out to our friend Josimi for the last 2 years and Yolanda trying to teach us Spanish!

DRINKS:
- Mango Tangos are the best but they ran out of mango after 4 days. Paralyzers were good too. Mini beer shots (43 liquor and Baileys blended with an ice cube) was popular; Malibu rum with cranberry and sprite, Bahama Mamas good

FOOD (4 a la cartes, a buffet and snack bar by the Infinity Pool)
- MEXICAN: cheese and chipotle chilli soup and Mexican noodle soup very good; chocolate butter with your bun! Surf and Turf good; Beef Tenderloin tips was ok but a little spicy for me; churros for dessert! Highly recommend going there for lunch too! Reservation is required though for lunch too. It's not just Mexican food at lunch - we tried chicken baguette and burger with fries, pasta noodles with chicken and mushroom (everything so good)
- ORIENTAL: springroll yum!, wonton soup, pork filet in chilli sauce, noodles with chicken and pork, chicken Teppanyaki and rice, mango butter with your buns, churros for dessert! One of our favourite a la cartes (Francisco even made a special trip to the Mexican a la carte to get churros for us)
- OYSTER BAR: you have to make a reservation if you wanted breakfast or lunch out there (no big deal- doesn’t count towards your 4 a la cartes for the week); small buffet there for breakfast and you can order 4 different items for breakfast but quiet and nice to be out on the pier. Supper there - Surf and Turf and garlic mashed potatoes with gravy; half spring chicken, cream soup with shrimp, melon butter with buns - everything was really good! For lunch we just had burgers and fries because everything else was seafood; peanut soup smelled just like peanut butter, buns with lime butter!
- ITALIAN: Beef medallions, Caesar salad, mushroom soup; ravioli with Gorgonzola cheese, Parmesan chicken with pasta, chocolate cannoli stuffed with strawberry mousse for dessert (everything was AMAZING) - also one of our favourite a la cartes!

**two years ago, men had to wear long pants to the a la cartes; this is not the case anymore but they still need to wear a closed in shoe**

- SNACK BAR: at the pool area opened noon-6:00pm (burgers, hotdogs, fries, grilled chicken, fish sticks or chicken wings (spicey!!), fruit, chips and salsa (you have to eat at the tables there- no eating at pool area to keep birds away - guy would come everyday with his hawk to run off the birds)

BEACH:
- Not much of a beach front and quite rocky, although they do have chairs set up on platforms and in the last year put out a floating platform with a bunch of beach chairs so you could be out on the ocean

ROOMS/RESORT:
- beautiful big clean modern rooms; nice jet tub in the room; shower has great pressure; love the huge walk-in closet
- 3 nice pools; one of them is adult only but is not overlooking the ocean; one was more for kids and had music and activities; third one was the infinity pool and has swim-up bar
- lobby bar a place to hang out with in the evening and they have a 3 man band playing at 9:00 every night; karaoke in there on Tuesday nights; pool tables, ping pong tables, blackjack played one night; open til midnight
- we never tried the outdoor disco (opens at 11 pm); it is located just past the Oyster Bar a la carte
- they have a man playing a harp every morning in the buffet and a man singing and playing keyboard every morning at the Oyster Bar which is a nice touch

ACTIVITIES:
- Yoga classes in the morning; more activities like water volleyball and bingo etc at the middle pool but we liked the infinity pool

EXTRA INFO - Taxi prices from the Azul Grand (in pesos - one way):
- 310 La Ropa
- 210 Zihuatanejo
- 130 Ixtapa

TIPS:
- don’t stand around for 2 hours to book reservations when they open in the morning-go later in the day if you don’t mind days or times - we got in all the a la cartes and picked 8 pm or 7 pm (allowed 4 a la cartes per week); you could book Mexican for lunch too (highly recommended for lunch) and Oyster Bar for breakfast and lunch too - you don’t have to change out of your pool clothes to eat at the lunch Mexican or Oyster Bar a la cartes; dinner shows were Friday and Tuesday nights that don’t count towards your 4 a la cartes per week (good buffet meal at 7:00pm; show started at 9:00pm); they had some type of show every night though in the area between the Azul and Azul Grand

OTHER PLACES TO CHECK OUT:
- went to Ixtapa Island (cost is 50 pesos per person for the water taxi round trip) take your towels and maybe some crackers to feed the fish - Water is nice and clear; lots of restaurants and on one side you can snorkel
- tried La Papa Loca in Zihuatanejo for tacos and huge potatoes filled with meat and pineapple (very good!)
- went to Franks a couple of times for supper and Generals for a beer

Why do you only allow 4 reservations for your restaurants? We stayed a week and would much prefer to eat at one of the restaurants each night rather than the mediocre buffet which is very repetitive.
The rest of the resort is clean and awesome. piscine solo adults is awesome and quiet, views from room awesome, Servers all good especially Carlos. Beach area beautiful with cool dock. I would pack myself back into one of those painfully cramped Sunwing flights just to enjoy this hotel again.
Some Americans warned us about leaving the hotel as I like to go out and play golf, but we had no problems at all. Maybe if you are American you get picked on, but make sure you get out and about in this unique part of Mexico.

A beautiful place to visit, friendly and very responsive staff who are always making sure your stay is the best. Rooms are big/clean and comfortable with amazing views.
Great variety of restaurants to eat at, very laid back... we will be making this one of our return spots
