I think it's really more accurate .to call this space Parque San Francisco, given that it's lawn and trees. Unusually large number of churches right there. Tranquil. Beware of lumpy lawn; I nearly lost an ankle to jt, and definitely lost my dignity! Museo Regional is a black away.

Very nice square in old downtown. There is a small garden, a fountain, some nice old buildings (colonial and baroque) and a beautiful catholic church (Templo de San Francisco) well worth the time if only for the architecture and the detailed religious statues and paintings found inside. Coffee places and small restaurants can be found around and a museum (which used to be a convent) is located behind the church (in Plaza de Aranzazu). The place has a young and trendy atmosphere during weekends.

Just a great place to hang out by the fountain. Peaceful and serene. Great family-run eateries spring up on the weekend. A great pub is nearby (Oruga y La Cebada)!
