We make a habit of asking the locals where the best food is when we are in a new town. In Aguascalientes, all the locals were unanimous in recommending The Cenaduria San Antonio. We decided to give it a try. This restaurant is decidedly a "locals" hangout. A tourist not used to Mexico would probably not stop in to give it a try. That would be too bad because, In my opinion, this place has the best tamales I have ever come across in all of mexico. The lamb stew is also excellent if a bit spicy. The décor is non-existent and the building is usually crowded past the point of comfortability, but the excellent food is worth the effort. Located on the main drag, about 8 blocks south of the central plaza. I recommend this place for anyone who is a true aficionado of good Mexican food.

Recomiendo los tamales que los venden congelados para llevar, soy mexicana y nunca había probado nada mas delicioso. El pozole es muy bueno los tacos TOOOODO!!!
If you want to taste real and common mexican food you need to go, don´t imagine a luxury restaurant because it is not, but the service and the food is excelent! try the tamales, I am mexican and never tasted nothing more delicious!

My friends told me that this restaurant has a long history in Aguascalientes (more than 50 years.... wow). From first-sight it doesn't seem to impressive but the dishes were very good and full of flavor. Everything is great: Pozole, Flautas, Tacos, Sopes (pork and chicken), Tostadas, Enchiladas and sweet tamales. Recommended for real Mexican food lovers, this is no tex-mex stuff!. Be careful, all chili sauces are very spicy!

If you ask anyone for a place to have a typical dish in Aguascalientes, I bet they´ll answer "La San Antonio". With a great variety of "garnachas" (fried tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, sopes) pozole , and the best Tamales in town (sweet and salty ones). You can have a "plato Aguascalientes/Hidrocálido" that comes with a little of everything so you can have a taste of everything. Warning: you might get sick after this kind of dinner, but that´s completely normal if you are not used to eating this "heavy/greasy".
Don´t expect a fancy restaurant, it´s been there for nearly 50 years.

The price is not at all good comparing with the horrible food. Hard sopes and small, the taste is really not good for the fame the have.
Not recomendable at all.
