“The clues in the title, The Retreat is an amazing place to get away from it all”

If you're looking for the perfect bolt hole for your trip to Derbyshire, then look no further than The Retreat. We stayed for three nights leading up to Christmas and left feeling totally relaxed. Ashover is a beautiful village only a short drive from Bakewell and Chatsworth, although a stroll to the Poets Corner is recommended if you don't fancy going too far afield.

We had originally planned to explore The Peak District with a couple of walks but sadly the weather ruined our plans! Thankfully there are plenty of trails to explore around Ashover, along with some utterly stunning countryside.

We only met one of our Hosts, Ian, who couldn't have been more helpful. Especially in the matter of a watch that I left behind (thanks again for posting back :D)!

Thanks for a wonderful stay, we're already planning our return!

“Perfect little cottage for two”
Reviewed 2 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Lovely welcome from Ian on arrival who took us around the cottage and told us everything we needed to know to make our stay comfortable. Welcome pack of bread, butter, eggs and milk plus coffee, tea and sugar also provided which was a nice touch. The cottage is just gorgeous, beautifully styled with high quality furnishings. We booked our break to escape for a few days and relaxed and enjoyed being there instantly. The weather unfortunately was not great so we didn't get to do any of the walks which were in the cottages guide book but we did visit 2 of the 3 pubs in the village and enjoyed the time spent in them. Friendly village and close to Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth. There was nothing to not like, we loved our stay and intend to go back and if we don't manage to get a walk next time we know the pubs are a very good alternative.

Just returned from a lovely stay at The Retreat in Ashover. The property was exceptional, very clean with modern facilities. The views were stunning. Surrounding areas beautiful with lots to do. Ashover itself was a very friendly & quaint little village. Elaine & Ian were extremely accommodating.
We would definitely recommend a stay at The Retreat. Can't wait to return! 5 ☆

Stayed for 3 nights at the Retreat. A beautiful and very well thought out cottage. Cosy and peaceful break away from it all. Lovely welcome and lots of extras. Hoping to return and will be recommending this cottage.

“2nd visit - another great weekend.”
Reviewed 12 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The Retreat was a natural choice for us to spend the weekend for our son's wedding in Chesterfield followed by reception at Ashover Village Hall. This was a second stay for us and once agin we slept well and enjoyed all that this lovely little cottage has to offer.
