Last year travelled to Calgary stayed at the Palliser stayed on the GOLD level where there is a Lounge over looking the city with breakfast, evening canapés and dedicated Concierge. Having stayed at the Palliser 4 times in the past this was the most enjoyable stays the staff from the baggage guys to the cleaners go out of there way to help you and are always friendly. We had a fantastic stay.

A pleasant enough hotel, up to the Fairmont standard and conveniently located for the Calgary Tower (though we didn’t have time to go up there). Helpful staff, a fairly small room with no view but certainly fine for one night. The fact that we can’t remember the breakfast probably means that it was OK.

Very welcoming and helpful people, great place to end a great trip in good location.
A couple of negatives on the room we had, one was the rail line directly below and the other was the air con, extremely noisy and had to turn off to get sleep but did drown out the rail traffic, not saying all the other rooms would be the same.

LOCATION & ATTRACTIONS NEARBY *** Famous The Fairmont Palliser is located close to all attractions of Calgary, within walking distance from the Calgary Tower, shopping, restaurants and train station. Parking is in the same building (bit tricky to get) with an internal entrance.

HOTEL OVERVIEW *** Heritage hotel in the city centre, one of the most famous spots in town. It’s elegant, stylish, but comfortable and guest friendly at the same time.
There’s beautiful swimming pool on the 3rd floor and also sauna / steam room and gym.
PURPOSE OF THIS TRIP *** Leisure.

RESERVATION *** Via GDS, but accessible easily online via mobile applications and hotel website.

LENGTH OF MY STAY *** 3 nights - Aug 16.

CHECK-IN *** We arrived very late due to flight delay, but our check-in was quick and absolutely hassle-free. Also letter which I was expecting to be delivered there, was given to me straight away.

LOBBY & RECEPTION *** Grand & elegant. At the time of check-in there was some wedding happening, therefore it was bit noisy, but in the morning it revealed itself as a fantastic place. Looks like a castle main hall .

ROOM *** Fairmont King #651 was my room selection. Spacious, traditional in style, but equipped with all modern amenities you may need. It was spotless clean & fresh. Air-condition was quiet and easy to operate, but if needed, windows facing internal courtyard could be opened as well. There was also large flat-screen TV, working desk, safety deposit box, plenty of space for our luggage. Coffee machine, coffee/tea making kit, mini-bar/fridge and walk-in wardrobe was also part of the room equipment. I would love to take this bed with me back home – it was so comfortable.

BATHROOM *** Also very spacious and clean, same grand style as room. I loved their toiletries (one of those 3 days they were not replenished).

BREAKFAST *** We decided to take breakfast in the hotel’s Rimrock Restaurant. It’s kind of dark, lounge-style place which I wasn’t so convinced at first... But... Straight away we were welcomed by one of the staff members and were seated immediately. We could choose a’la carte or buffet breakfast. We went for buffet option even if it didn’t look overwhelming. How wrong was I... Selection was great and everything Michelin-star quality. Buffet breakfast but almost like tailor-made specially for you. Selection of cold/warm meals, juices, cold meats, cheeses, fresh fruits (strawberries to die for!), waffles, eggs and the best food of this entire trip – smoked salmon. I’ve never eaten such a good salmon! Only for that I’d pack my bags and fly 8h to Calgary.
In general, breakfast was fantastic. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else, it’s not worth it as in the Fairmont Palliser you’d have the best start of your day. Lovely food and attentive staff, all in this grand location. 5+++

INTERNET ACCESS *** Easy to log-in and within 3 days I didn’t have to re-log-in. Fantastic. Internet connection was very good (2 mobiles and 1 laptop, everything worked perfectly fine).

CHECK-OUT EXPERIENCE *** Quick, efficient and hassle-free. Invoice was under our door on the last night, but then we added extra breakfast. Everything was correct and we also received copy by e-mail. We’re able to partially pay with the Fairmont Gift Cards which wasn’t any problem for the reception staff. Parking was paid in the machine at the exit (we paid 6 CAD per overnight stay), you can use credit card for it.

STAFF *** Professional, attentive, but very natural at the same time. Exactly what you’d expect in the 5* hotel.

OVERVIEW ***I loved it. Lovely hotel in a great location, fantastic staff and really comfortable room. Affordable luxury in the heart of the town. I’d definitely stay there again when visiting Calgary.

Room lighting very bad , two out of four lights working on arrival , on departure only one. Small room for travellers with two large suitcases starting out on a months trip. Bathroom sink push in plug broke while using in the morning, would not come back up. If you like a English Breakfast tea first thing take your own as they only supplied the fancy types. I advised reception on departure who said I should have rung them. We had just had an 20 hr plane trip and where only staying one night. Having people in your room fixing things was the last we needed.
