“It's a great afternoon out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2012

I have been coming here off and on over 30 years. Whether you rent a canoe or rowboat and take yourself around the water, or come during the winter months for the skating, when the river freezes over, this is a wonderful place to hang out with friends and family. You can picnic in the summer, bbq and relax in the park, or huddle up to the warm fires in the winter in between skating. There is a canteen, but it can be expensive, so I suggest bringing your own picnic goodies in summer or winter, some fresh water to hydrate yourself and a big thermos of hot coffee and/or coco. You may even make some friends that way!!!

“Beautiful, Well Maintained Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

Lots of people can enjoy their lunch and BBQ in this park, as it can accomodate many at a time. It's a great place to land a raft or take off from or fish or just sit by the river. If one wants to try a paddle boat they can be rented near the lagoon where it is safe for children or beginning canoists, etc. A concession is available for light meals and in the winter there is skating on the lagoon.

“grew up here!”

Had to come back and see what was what. Awesome place to bring the family and have a picnic or a b-b-q. We played mini golf and brought some of our own games. Rented some canoes and pattled around the park. Little water park there for small kids too. peaceful place and a good family park

“My childhood dream park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2012

As a youngster My great Aunt would take me to Bowness park, once a year. And the highlight was the treat of a ride on the merry-go- round. But just one ride mind you. To my joy the merry-go-round returned home after many years away. It is now operating in the amusement park at Heritage park and I still love to watch it and listen to the organ music. (In fact I had a ride on it again last year at the age of 69. Loved it.) Over the years I became aware of the other features of Bowness Park. It included a series of lagoons that you can rent a canoe and paddle around on. Early on a boat house in the middle of the lagoon played dreamy music, but it is gone now. Other amusements now including a miniature railway and miniature golf and still lots of open areas for group picnics and private relaxation areas. A great place still to bring the family and spend the day. Maybe some fishing along the Bow River, or skipping rocks.
