We stayed here for the Valentine's Day 2015 Couples Weekend. We had such an AMAZING time we are currently trying to plan a wedding here.

The hotel is quaint, and it is beautifully set in the River Valley. The rooms are vintage, with a modern take as plumbing is a necessity. There is no tv which we love because connecting is easier when there are no electronics. The beds were decent and the layout was very chic. The grand staircase, the concierge, and the guest satisfaction of feeling in the past is exceptional. The people strive for great customer service. It is a place where if you seek romance and relaxation and a place to 'unplug' this tiny hotel is for you.

The food at Johnson's Cafe was interesting, as it was a very five star menu that I have never tasted such different and exotic flavors, I would rate the complex dinner event menus a 4/5. That being said, we have had the Sunday brunches on a regular old weekend which are still wide spread and delicious. The restaurant decor is vintage, lovely, and just brings back such a periodic element we seek every time we go.

Went to 'Scary Nasty' at the Capital Theatre in Fort Edmonton Park and had dinner at the Selkirk Hotel.
It was an awsome all you can eat buffet. We ordered a realy nice bottle of Chilean merlot.
The desert table was ginormouse.

Good morning,

We are very happy to hear about your dinner and show experience at Fort Edmonton Park. We offer dinner and show packages for those guests who want to spend a full evening 1920s style! During the summer months (and on selected fall/winter/spring dates), our guests can wake up in the 20s and spend the night in the Hotel Selkirk right on-site.

We hope to see you again soon,

Fort Edmonton Park

We stumbled upon Hotel Selkirk on a trip through Western Canada and boy what a treat. We arrive at Fort Edmonton around 7, after the park had closed. Getting in was a little foreign, the park is fully gated. Once you find the gate you'll need to buzz the front desk so the can let you in. Anyway entering the park is truly a time warp. The hotel is very nicely done in 1920 theme but with some modern amenities like Wi-Fi. However, beware their is no tv, at least in the room we had. Also the sleeping configuration was different, our room had twin beds. All in all the room was very comfortable with a 1920s twist. The really incredible part about this hotel is you can wonder around Fort Edmonton at any time during your stay. We went for a stroll through the park around 9 when the park was closed to the public and it was really neat experience having the park practically to ourselves. We even made it back to the workshop where volunteers were hand carving the replacement horse for the beautiful carousel. Seeing all the hard work that went into the ride really made us appreciate it more when we took a spin the next day. Admission to the park is included in the hotel charge, which is really great value. And the park itself is stunning when fully operation during the day. Also included is breakfast which was pretty standard continental fare. Overall if you really want the true Fort Edmonton experience do yourself a favour and stay at Hotel Selkirk. Amazing!

A reproduction of the original Selkirk which burnt down in 1962, so the plaque says, and a good job has been made of it. The 20's theme is superb, however it lacks!

No TV in rooms, why? Because there was no TV in the 20's, neither was there wifi, aircon, central heating, and probably not hot running water, lame excuse!

The restaurant is average at best, but the bar atmosphere is great, so OK overall.
