My husband and I stayed at Moda Hotel for 4 nights in July 2017. Overall, we thought that our room was excellent value for the price we paid and we would consider staying here again.

This hotel is in an excellent location, in a safe and lively neighbourhood, in the heart of downtown. There were many places to eat nearby and both Yaletown and Gastown were a 10 minute or less walk away. You could also easily catch a bus to other parts of the city.

The hotel staff were all friendly and accommodating. The cleaning staff and front desk staff greeted us whenever they saw us. The check-in and check-our processes were easy transactions and the front desk staff offered to store our bags for us when we arrived at and left the hotel. The front desk staff were also happy to help out with special requests (e.g., calling a taxi for us and recommending places to eat).

Our room was a clean and decent place to sleep after a busy day of sightseeing. I was more than satisfied with the level of cleanliness, condition of the room, and amenities it offered. The beds were clean and comfortable, the WiFi connection was quick, and everything in the room was in good working order.

Since the hotel is in an older building, the rooms are a bit small, the elevators were a bit slow, and some of the floors creaked a bit. These were only minor issues that could be easily overlooked, considering the low price I paid for this hotel. Some other reviewers have complained about the decor, but I personally didn't have an issue with it.

The hotel is located in a very lively and well-travelled neighbourhood, so it does get noisy (especially on the weekend). I would recommend bringing earplugs.

Overall, I was happy with my stay at Moda. Compared to other hotels in the area, it was a lot more affordable and offered excellent value.

We had a great stay here. The location is great if you want to be situated close to Vancouver’s entertainment area (and Granville road.

Noise at night was a little loud for the parents but It didn’t bother me or my wife (hotel is on top of a Bar).

The hotel was incredibly affordable but didn’t lack in comfort or cleanliness at all.

Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a place for just a few nights while passing through Vancouver.

We arrived at midnight very tired. We had a room on the third floor with two double beds. Was average looking until we entered the bathroom. The room was for 3 people and towels were set for 2. The floor in the bathroom was so tilted we could not put anything down on the toilet or edge of the tub without it falling off. There was approximately 4-6 inch gap between the floor and the door. We were afraid the floor was going to give way. We never used the tub in case the weight of the water and a person may cause the tub to collapse. We left early in the morning and did not report it to the front desk but informed our booking company 'Hotwire' but nothing was said after my complaint. Very disappointed for the price we paid.

We stayed at the Moda on two occasions in a fortnight, starting and ending a holiday.

The hotel is in a great location, right in downtown. It was walking distance to BC Place and Canada Place, and close to shopping and the metro.

We had a king room on our first stay. Check-in was efficient. The hotel has a small lift to get you and luggage to the upper floors.

Our room was a good size. The bathroom was a bit cold, though. This is quite an old building, so while the hotel has been modernised, it suffers from a few defects like leaky windows and a lack of power outlets (although there were USB points on the lamp, which was a great help for some devices).

On the first morning, I found there was no hot water. A call to the front desk revealed that there was a problem. We were offered complimentary breakfast as compensation for the two nights of our stay. This was served in the restaurant attached to the hotel, and was absolutely delicious. The hot water was not back on by the time we were ready to go out, but it was back on when we returned several hours later.

Our second room was a queen, and significantly smaller, but otherwise it was the same standard. We had a lot of stuff to unload from our car when we arrived (there are loading bays to the rear), and the front desk clerk helped me load things onto a trolley in the lobby to take up to the room.

This is a great hotel, and not too expensive. I would consider staying here again.

We were looking for an economical hotel in downtown Vancouver, something that wouldn't break the bank. We bought a coupon through Travelzoo for $109 + taxes for a Saturday night that included secure parking and a great breakfast. We had a choice of booking a queen size bed or two doubles.

Now this is a smaller older hotel that has had an effective facelift with new paint, carpet and linens. No amenities that we could see, just a simple room to sleep in. The colour scheme is bold with red, black and white, but the room was very clean making it forgivable. Hotel staff was friendly, especially our server in the adjoining restaurant, where we had a choice of several hearty breakfasts. We ordered Eggs Benedict and a traditional breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast and fruit. Both were delicious.

The Moda Hotel is kitty corner to the Orpheum theatre and near the heart of downtown making it easy to walk to restaurants and shopping. Considering the exorbitant cost of most downtown hotels we felt the Moda Hotel offered excellent value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher than the second floor to avoid staring at ventilation pipes and ducts outside your window.
