“accomodation in vancouver”
Reviewed 10 March 2012

Stayed recently for 2 nights at the Fairmont in downtown Vancouver. Spacious, quiet and comfortable rooms. Located very close to shopping precincts and variety of restaurants to suit many tastes. Staff at hotel very helpful and pleasant.

Room Tip: Do not be put off by deals offered by hotel. Quality of rooms is good regardless

The Fairmont hotel is located in fantastic location in Vancouver and the building itself is very impressive with very nice original features. However once you leave the grandeur of the lobby and downstairs restaurants the hotel starts to feels a little tired. The rooms are very comfortable and offer all the amenities you would expect for the price and such a well know chain of hotels. I feel at the price being charged by the Hotel there are better alternatives on offer in Vancouver..............with friendlier front desk staff.

Stayed at this property for one night before heading to Portland. Was provided with a gallery view room, two queen beds. The exterior of the hotel is nice and offers a great central location to shopping and attractions although the room itself was a little bit of a let down. I understand that the hotel is a heritage property although the furnishings in the guest room were marked and scratched and in my opinion required upgrading. The little stand holding the refreshment center was very small and I was afraid to open the door to the bar fridge with fear of being charged for something that I did not want. The bathroom had a different layout being a heritage hotel although the shower pressure was fine and I liked the marble floors. I found the attendant who checked us in to not be overly friendly although the one at check-out was a lot better. The pool facilities were excellent including the hot tub area and the lobby lounge offered exceptional service and food, at a reasonable price. I am happy I stayed at this property and would recommend it to others although for my taste I would rather choose a more modern style hotel such as the Hyatt.

My husband and I, along with our adult son, stayed at this wonderful hotel over Christmas. We could not have asked for a better holiday. We were on the 9th floor and the lounge was fantastic. Everything about the room was spectacular. We had friends in to visit and they were as impressed as we were.
The bathroom was small but really, how much room do you need in a bathroom? The room more than made up for that small thing. The separate living room / office was just wonderful.

The breakfast was more than good. It was magnificent. Mavis was the best hostess in the world!!!

We will go back again and again!!

The hotel was so incredibly decorated for Christmas - we did not feel like we were missing anything. The cookie basket left in our room was a bonus!!

Room Tip: Go for the Gold Floor.
