Modern looking building, but once inside you notice its age. Service was decent at the front desk, parking underground was $25/Nite(tax in). Rooms are pretty small, but 2 good quality beds, fridge, and microwave and 42 inch TV. AC worked good, needed because you could not open any windows. Nice view of downtown Vancouver. Bathroom was smelly, the cloth shower curtain was the culprit. A bit of mold in shower area and peeling paint. Tub drain was horrible, showers quickly turned to shower/bath. Place needs a deep cleaning, there were stains around the sink wall, including toothpaste stains. That being said, location is awesome, price is great for downtown. Good for a buddy weekend, not for a wife weekend.

Room Tip: Laminate floors...bring your slippers

This is not really a hotel, but rather a student residence building that is selling excess room inventory on per night basis and pretending to be a hotel. GEC means Global Education City. The building is former Best Western hotel that is somewhat renovated (i.e. furniture is new, but all fixtures/appliances/walls/doors/hallways are from their previous life). There is tiny common area on the top floor with full kitchen, including stove and range, small terrace and gym, that is actually a couple of treadmills in the corner of the kitchen. Parking is expensive (20 CAD per night + tax, that translates into 25 CAD/night total), there is an EasyPark garage in 2 blocks on Seymour St. that charges 12.50 CAD/night, tax included). There is no breakfast, you can eat in the restaurant downstairs and get 10% discount with room key. Service is between ignorant and non-existent as you would expect in a student dorm.

The staff was pleasant, and everything in our smallish room did work. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate. However, this older hotel shows lots of wear: the rooms are not generous and the moldings and trims are no longer entirely cleanable, with dusty, worn corners. Soundproofing is not great.

The location is good--convenient to many tourist and business locations and many good restaurants within an easy walk, and the area feels safe. There is secure parking available.

Not in any hurry to return but...adequate.

Stayed here a few times already and am very satisfied with not only the location, but also that they have complimentary water stations on each floor. Not the newest and fanciest hotel around (used to be a Best Western), but it is fairly clean and the staff are amazing.

The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful We arrived early but were able to leave our bags and park our car. The room provided on the 2nd floor was basic, medium size but with a small bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the night curtains (stopping light coming in) were great. The view was onto the top of the roof over the restaurant below so not great. The room safe did not work, so I guess you can call it a room unsafe. Breakfast was not included but the direct access to the restaurant next door was good. The laundry facilities were good.

Room Tip: Ask for room above level 2.
