Whistler Peak Lodge
Ranked #30 of 49 Hotels in Whistler

For location and value for money hard to find better in Whistler. Right smack in the middle of Whistler village beside all the shops, restaurants, groceries, etc. and 7 minute walk to the Whistler gondola.

1 bedroom suite is essentially booking a 1 bedroom condo/apartment to stay in. Read the fine print and understand that this is a lodge and not a full blown hotel. Heard others in the lifts complaining about not having daily room cleaning, room service, bars, restaurants, etc. Pretty clearly says this on the website, but they clearly didn't read properly first.

Main criteria I judge hotels on is bedrooms and bathrooms. This 1 bedroom suite (517) was very spacious, even if the layout was a little strange. Supposed to be an extra large bed but was in fact 2 double beds at either end of a long narrow bedroom, about a foot either side of the main bed and none around the second. Can't imagine how the second bed would ever be used?

Spa bath was a nice feature. Being 6ft 3but showering in hotels is normally entertaining but this place win the prize for least practical shower. Probably only really works comfortably, ie stand directly under the shower, for people under 5ft 5 due to the sharp sloping roof the bath was under.

Living space and kitchen were very large, designed for families or small parties to live in. Kitchen is fully equipped if you want to save a few more dollars for passes and eat in, grocery and liquor stores are less than 5 minutes walk away. Plus you are right on top of Cowes where the queues for the ice cream are well worth the wait!

Only real negative is the layout is very funky and Ben on the front desk doesn't do a great job of explaining how to get to your rooms. Luckily we bumped into 2 of the cleaning staff who took us all the way from the lobby to our room, without them we might still be wandering around Whistler village wondering where we are staying.

If you want plenty of space to live in, close to the centre of Whistler for a great price, this is your choice. If you want a fancy hotel with all the latest facilities, spas, mini bars, etc you probably want somewhere else.

Room Tip: Read the fine print, understand exactly what you want out of you stay. Layout is very funky so hard...

Dear Martins,

Thank you for your comprehensive review of the Whistler Peak Lodge. We are happy to hear that you found your room to be large and comfortable while remaining in the good value category. We are sorry that you had a room with a slanted ceiling in the shower. Whistler Peak Lodge has unique rooms which all vary, next time we can try and get you a room with a high ceiling in the shower to accommodate your height more comfortably.

We are glad that you enjoyed Whistler village and got to try out Cows delicious ice cream! We hope to see you again for your next Whistler getaway!

Stayed 2 nights in early May , the place was nearly empty . Room with kitchen and 2 queen beds . Clean and comfortable but a bit dated . We were on the fifth floor on the east side over Village Stroll . Thursday night and the pub down below is going off , put ear plugs in at 2.30 am to sleep . The sound proofing nonexistent . On a happy note the location is perfect , walking distance to all we needed but the NOISE !!

Room Tip: Not over Village Stroll

Dear Bob and Robyn

Thank you for sharing your recent experience at our lodge with us.

We sincerely apologize for the noise disturbances that you experienced during your stay. Unfortunately due to the central location of the lodge, late-night noise from people on the village stroll can occur. We do have a security guard on site overnight to assist with noise issues on his patrols of the area or upon notification from the 24-hour Front Desk. We sincerely apologize that this did not prevent you being disturbed, and thank you for sharing this feedback with us.

We are glad that despite the noise issues, you enjoyed our proximity to all of Whistler's activities, restaurants and other village life - and we hope your trip to Whistler was wonderful.

We appreciate your feedback, and hope that we will see you again in the future.

Kind Regards, Erin Thomson - Customer Care, ResortQuest Whistler.

Small, dated accommodation, not value for money. Extremely hot room, despite the portable air conditioner, which was far too noisy to have running, especially when trying to sleep at night. Convoluted and confusing access to the building our room was in. No laundry facilities available. Stay somewhere else if you have the choice.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Dear Kate,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at our lodge with us.

We sincerely apologise that you experienced frustration regarding the limited building access due to the current remediation being done to the outside of the lobby. We are working hard to have this work finished as soon as possible, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

We also apologise that you found your suite to be too warm, and for any discomfort you experienced.

Whilst unfortunately our standard and superior studios do not contain laundry facilities, all other suite types (deluxe studio and larger) do have a private washer and dryer, and these types of suite may suit you better.

We are disappointed that we did not meet your expectations on this recent visit, and we do hope you will consider staying with us again in the future so that we have the opportunity to restore your faith in us.

Thank you for your feedback.

Kind Regards, Erin Thomson - Customer Care, ResortQuest Whistler.

The room itself was not too bad, kitchenette is a nice bonus, the room is small but clean. The fireplace was in an odd spot so close to the bed but otherwise decently modern.

The website noted that there was secured bike storage which is one of the reasons we wanted to try it out. When we checked in, the lady seemed nice at first but once we showed disappointment about the bike storage, her attitude changed. We noted that the website was misleading and should be clarified that the only place to put your bike at night is outside, plaza level. There was a bike rack to lock up a bike so I suppose you can "secure" a bike to that but let's face it, most mountain bikers who come here, spend $$ on their bikes and securing your bike after a day's ride isn't leaving out in the plaza with a chain...
We can spend $40 extra to pay for parking in their underground parkade to be able to lock up the bike in the car overnight. Not ideal given that you'd have to take the front wheel of the bike out every time you get in/out.
As the check in procedure continued, she went through the list of amenities and rules (eg. parking, housekeeping). I misheard her and asked for clarification, in which I realized I shouldn't have bothered. What started as a good check in now became an awful experience because we chose to call them out on the bike storage issue.

As per their website they have a "Welcoming and inviting lobby"...
I suppose if they don't include the front desk lady. As we took our stuff from the car, and back into the lobby to get to the room, she didn't even look up. Great way to start the weekend right?

We stayed here for three nights. The only complaint I have is the carpeting (the tacking strip) near the entrance was worn and the sharp tacks were a bit tricky on the feet. We reported it to the front desk. The kitchen was supplied enough for simple cooking. And i love having a refrigerator in a room. Loved them being right in the middle of the village although I didn't enjoy the walk up to the Four Seasons where my work was at.

Dear Paul,

Thank you for your review of the Whistler Peak Lodge, we appreciate your feedback and you bringing to our attention the carpet issue with your room. I am happy to report that the issue is being fixed by our maintenance team.

I am glad to hear that you found our location convenient in the heart of Whistler village. Although it is a bit of a walk to the Four Seasons we hope that you found the free Whistler shuttle to the upper village which can drop you off outside that property. There is also a nice trail over the Fitzsimmons Creek for a scenic route.

We hope that you had a good work trip to Whistler and to see you again for your next visit!
