Description: The culinary cornerstone in the heart of Whistler Village, Araxi enjoys a long held international reputation for excellence in food, wine and hospitality. As an early pioneer of farm to table dining, Executive Chef James Walt's seasonally focused menus celebrate the excellence of locally sourced ingredients. Walt's innovative and skillfully executed dishes-from savoury starters through delicious desserts-deliver intelligent compositions and unforgettable flavours. Centrally located in the main square of the village, Araxi boasts a contemporary dining room coloured in warm earth tones - and a sleek Oyster Bar that exudes the passion and craftsmanship that lie at the heart of the restaurant. The lively lounge, which features a year-round indoor/outdoor bar, is Whistler's favourite gathering place for both locals and visitors alike.

Surely one of the best, or even THE best restaurant in Whistler. Oysters, beef tartare, fish of the day, pasta, etc...we have try most parts of the menu and everything was perfectly cooked and professionally presented. And plate size is enough for hungry skiers!
Friendly and unpretentious service, even if it's a gastronomical restaurant.
Expect at least 250$ for a couple, with a beer, an average wine, and a scotch at the end!

Such a poor performance. I can not talk about the food, because we could not make it to a table. Sure, without a reservation you have to wait, but this was more like beeing ignored. After more than one hour, sitting at the bar a waitress asked for our name and then walked away again. No Informationen about a table or aditional waiting time.

Dear Thomas,

Many thanks for your feedback regarding last evening’s experience with us.

It’s very disappointing to hear that our hosts did not better manage your wait for the dining room. I will definitely review this unfortunate incidence with the front-of-house team and use this as a training tool to ensure that we are being more attentive regarding guest wait times for tables.

Sincerely,

Neil Henderson
Restaurant Director

Great variety of food despite being an Oyster bar. The Oysters and all other sea food was amazing! We also had non oyster eaters in the family, and they Were satisfied. Kids menubamd vegetarian menu were great!

The place is still humming at 9pm with new diners being seated while we were finishing up. A comprehensive menu; we both had the roast duck breast with broad beans and a wedge of red cabbage. Interesting.

I ate dinner at Araxi with three friends. We started with a selection of oysters that were fresh, briny and delicious. Also, a firecracker margarita that should be given a cocktail academy award. I was craving a plain green salad, and there was none on the menu, so our waiter offered to have one made for me. It was perfectly composed and dressed. Suggestion: put it on the menu for people like me who prefer salad sans meat or cheese. For a main course, I ate Yarrow Meadows Duck Breast, another stellar offering. An altogether satisfying meal.

Gazing around the tastefully decorated dining room, I saw wholesome nuclear families, large clans from faraway places speaking various languages, gents with elegant man buns, and perfectly made-up, young blond women in the company of men whom I might have thought were their fathers had there been even a slight resemblance. Perhaps latter-day Holly Golightlys on ski vacations! All in all, an interesting mix of diners.
