We had heard glowing reports of this fishing lodge in the extreme north of Manitoba where the forest meets the tundra. The reports were not wrong! The lodge, fishing, staff, meals, guides and facilities were all first class. All the stops were pulled out for the guests!

The central building with its dining room and lounge were the hub of the centre when not fishing. Everyone was very friendly and most of the guests were repeated visitors The meals were amazing for such a remote location! The guides were proud of their jobs, very knowledgeable in the navigation of the vast and complex lake network and besides, they had a wonderful sense of humor! What can I say about the shore lunches!

The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water in the showers. Internet was very useful and a surprise in this remote location.

Fishing for Lake Trout in the northern part of the lake was unbelievable. I hooked into a 37 1/2 incher within minutes of casting and more were to follow. Pike were also trophy sized and abundant. Grayling were fished for in river rapids but I did not go after them myself. There are no Walleye this far north, apparently. The lodge, which is the only one on the lake, is the pioneer in catch and release. This shows, the numbers of trophy fish has been maintained by the conservation minded owners, staff and guides. Numerous eagles and other birds can be seen, as well as the chance of caribou, wolf, bear and moose.

Our first trip to Nueltin Fly-in Lodges but won't be the last. This is the place to go for fantastic fishing adventure.

From the website to the food, everything was all we expected and more. My wife and I have been to fly-in lodges before as well as other fishing resorts and this trip was by far the most exciting. Although the weather was a little sketchy at times - short periods of rain and wind - our guide was able to find good spots and help us rig to catch fish in almost every situation. In fact, Mary caught a trophy lake trout - 42" - the first afternoon qualifying her as a Manitoba Master Angler. Quite a thrill for a novice!

Otherwise, we caught over 40 trout over 25" and about 25 pike over 30" in our 4 days of fishing. Nueltin Lake is an outstanding fishery thanks to a strict no-kill policy including single barb-less hooks and highly-trained & experienced guides who know how to minimize stress on the fish.

To top it off, the caribou herd was beginning its migration so there were thousands of animals moving through the area. Quite a sight to see a hundred caribou swimming across the lake while we sat on the lodge deck relaxing after a day of fishing.

The staff was great - very efficient and friendly - and the service was perfect for a fishing getaway in the wilderness.
