We dropped in around 8:30 so they had already run out of a few things such as the cod tongues and oysters, but there was still plenty on the menu to tempt us. We started with the mushroom toasties and scallops, and followed that up with the salmon and spicy seafood pasta main courses. (The pasta is made in house and you could tell!) The patridge berry infused Charlie Horse cocktail was enjoyable, as was everything else. Service was friendly and attentive.

Dined at Tavola on this blustery Victoria Day weekend (2017) for dinner. I was blown away by the seafood (figuratively) and the St. John's wind (literally). The meal was truly top-notch!

Ordered the seafood-platter special for the evening, which consisted of a mound of steamed mussels, broiled shrimp, tasty scallops, seared salmon, and fried cod tongues (a Newfoundland delicacy). Everything was amazing! The mussels were infused with a delicious broth composed of beer, butter, tomato, and onion/garlic. Superb. The broiled shrimp was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The scallops let the soft, rich mollusks shine through, featuring only light seasoning (all that was needed for such wonderful morsels). The salmon also featured a light touch, letting the fish strut its stuff. Last, but certainly not least, the cod tongues were breaded and fried, served with lime salt and a zesty chili-cumin aioli. Fantastic!!

I polished the meal off with a slice of chocolate-beet (yes, beet) cake, which had great flavor. The beet was there, for sure, but subtle.

Service was friendly and capable, and prices were reasonable when compared to the other establishments on Water St.

Highly recommend Tavola to both locals and out-of-towners alike... 5 out of 5...

Took my family for our wedding anniversary. We were attracted by the style of food which included many made on site charcuterie ingredients, pickles and pasta. We were not disappointed. The high light of our visit was the service provided by our server Crystal who knowing the occasion could not do enough for our. She made sure that everything was just the way we wanted and in doing so made it a memorable evening we were all delighted. We can recommend the charcuterie platter, the seafood/pasta combos, and the pork belly with kimchee. All food was excellent and there were no misses. This is an establishment that takes pride in what it does - Highly recommended.

The food here is fabulous. Pasta is fresh made in-house, and pasta dishes change almost daily, They do excellent, fresh local seafood, I had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Service is fabulous, with staff who know the menu and can suggest nice wine parings as well. Great value for your money, and a lovely spot for any occasion. I highly recommend a visit to Tavola while you visit beautiful St. John's.

Stopped in for a quick dinner, had the mussels special to start with which was great, followed it with some small plates including the gnocchi which was homemade! Would return to try more of the homemade pasta
