With a myriad of bed and breakfast options in this carming town, we clearly selected the best for our weekend away. The room was spacious and nicely appointed with a large separate sitting area and overly comfortable bed and linens (making getting out of bed a hard thing to do).

Our host, John was kind and gracious. He went out of his way to accommodated our often odd requests. John ensured that our weekend away was perfect in every respect. Breakfast was delightful and obviously prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail.

The only downside to the weekend was that it had to end.

This was the latest of many stays at beautiful Simcoe Manor. We always find the accommodations excellent. We have stayed in all the rooms including the large suite. The rooms are very comfortable with well appointed bathrooms. Following a good night's rest we have enjoyed outstanding breakfasts.

The B&B is well situated in the town for easy walking access to all the venues, shops and restaurants...no need to worry about driving.

The owner, John Gartner is friendly , knowledgeable about activities and willing to help make his guests' stay enjoyable.

The grounds include a lovely garden, spacious porch and pool which provide a very relaxing atmosphere.

We come to Simcoe Manor every year from England and have always found it a truly relaxing and very enjoyable experience. We have always found the house extremely comfortable and a pleasure to visit as each room is decorated in a different style. Having tried several rooms over the years we have not had any complaints about any of them. Coming from Europe, where it is accepted in many places that you take your shoes off on entering the house, we find nothing strange about this at Simcoe Manor. We enjoy the home-cooked breakfasts very much and not knowing what you're going to get - although it will be expertly cooked and presented - starts the day off with eager anticipation! If we wanted the same every day we'd go to a diner! Meeting new people over breakfast may not suit those who like to start the day in silence but we have had many interesting conversations with visitors from the US and Canada, swopped views on the plays and exchanged tips about local restaurants as well as where to visit in England. John himself is a charming and informed host who has become a friend and is the reason we return. He has all the inside knowledge on NOTL and has made every stay special for us. This is our fifth year of visiting and we hope very much to come next year.

Very nice home but rather dated. Our room was probably last updated in the early 80's. Wallpaper coming off the wall, loose tiles in bathroom. Spent 238.00 for a room (overpriced in my opinion for what we got) and they charge you 50 cents for a bottle of water???

Hosts were away so they had friends looking after the place - very nice. Breakfast was nice in the formal dining room.

Was fine for what we needed - a place to sleep after a function at another hotel, but wouldn't go back. Place is in desperate need of some updating.

We truly regret the failure of Simcoe Manor to meet the expectations of any guests particularly those subject of this review who spent but one night here while we the owners and proprietors were away on vacation. To my knowledge they made no complaints or indication to the managers taking our place of any issues. If they had action would have been taken as soon as possible. However in any event it would not be possible to resolve the fireplace issue until Monday( the stay was for a Saturday night).
We are unapologetic about the percieved dated decor...its the classic style we wish to project and is loved by most of our guests. The guests were in our Burgundy suite by choice; not in our Green suite which is the most modern looking in appearance and decor which was available if requested.
The establishment and its rooms are exactly as presented on our website in colour photographs so there should be no issues respecting design and decor perceptions by guests. What you see is what you get. By the way since this visit we have added new flat screen HDTV units with built in DVDs.in 3 of our suites and a large screen TV in our downstairs Family room/Parlour
Respecting the wallpaper peel. The only room in the 3 room suite occupied by the guests with wallpaper is the bathroom which was carefully reviewed upon our return and 2 very small spots with almost unoticeable peel;probably the result the steam from the Jacuzzi were remedied upon our return. The loose tiles were in fact the disguised access tiles to the Jacuzzi which had been dislodged.
The fireplace problem was a totally unpredictable occurence the result of vent blockage probaly by racoons seeking warmth which activated the auto safety shutoff on the gas fireplace...also immediately addressed on our return.
Respecting the water issue. We normally place 2 complementary bottles of water in the rooms for guests use on arrival. Guests may purchase additional chilled water ( 3 bottles for $1.00 or .50 cents per.) if so desired.
The same suite has been occupied since this review without complaint.
Trusting this addresses the issues raised.

We truly regret our failure to meet these guests expectations but recognize that it is impossible to meet the needs of all of the people all of the time...though we try our best and if given an opportunity will certainly try to remedy issues immediately given the chance.
Most our guests truly enjoy the Simcoe Manor experience and many return repeatedly.

An elegant and charming property, in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. The Innkeeper could not have been more helpful with dining, wine and sight-seeing recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.
