My brother and I took our mom here for Mother's Day. Luckily we reserved and came right when they opened. As they make everything from scratch for each order, it's not a place for a quick dine 'n dash. Not that it took long but we were the only guests at first. Then it filled up with 2 large parties of about 10-12 people each.
We had their special of a great Cuban salad - super fresh veggies with a great dressing followed by an enormous plate of rice and beans, pork (I had the roast pork but my brother's pork steak was to die for HIGHLY recommend that for next time!!).
And fried plantain and a starch, like potatoes. It was enough food for me for 2 meals so I got the leftovers. The rice and beans were THE best I"ve ever eaten. Totally addictive.
Their homemade hot sauce isn't all that hot but tasty, very tasty very very tasty. They should sell it to go.
My one quibble is that it took 3 asks to get a glass of water but then she kept it filled up. It's only the 2 of them running the place and they do run themselves ragged. Their heart and soul are in this place and it shows. So forgive the slight lapse in service, the taste is SO worth it. We'll be back! Luckily our mom lives in the 'hood!!
