We arrived in ThunderBay on March 8th and the 'town was booked.' We had to take a less desireable hotel and our final choice was the Landmark.
Points for comment:
1/ The desk staff was excellent;
2/ The hotel amenities (beautiful pool, nice diner) were good
3/ Parking was good
4/ The room - we asked for a "NON-SMOKING" room - the first room we were assigned to was rank with stale smoke; they obliged us by changing us to another room and it too was rank with stale smoke. The bed was fine.
Also, the cleaning staff should pay very close attention - there was still blood on the wall from a previous renter. Cleanup outside the hotel also needed attention because there was a fair amount of blood on the ground close to the front entry door to the lobby..
My assessment: The type of clientele who frequent this hotel due to its location is degrading its qualities. Who (really) can stop someone from smoking in the designated non-smoking rooms? That's hard. However it is obviously condoned by the cleaning staff or a clean-up at the previous user's expense would have been reported and performed.More
