Owner description: Opened in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) showcases art, culture, and nature from around the globe and across the ages. One of North America's most renowned cultural institutions, Canada's largest museum is home to a world-class collection of more than six million objects and specimens, featured in 40 gallery and exhibition spaces. As the country’s preeminent field research institute and an international leader in new and original findings in biodiversity, palaeontology, earth sciences, the visual arts, material culture and archaeology, the ROM plays a vital role in advancing our global understanding of the artistic, cultural and natural world. The Renaissance ROM expansion project (2007) merged the iconic architectural heritage of the original building with the Studio Daniel Libeskind-designed Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. A distinctive new symbol of Toronto for the 21st century, the Crystal marked the beginning of a new era for the ROM as the country's premier cultural and social destination.

We visited as part of a city pass, I found it (unacceptable?) that when you buy the pass you have to pay extra for each exhibit in the museum, we did pay the money. Momma bear did enjoy the Christian Dior exhibit (dresses),but the Viking exhibit was a miss for myself and 5 year old. Not great value, if you don’t see it you won’t be missing anything of significance in Toronto.

The museum is very beauteful and huge. There are many exhibitions in the museum. The speciale exhibition this time was about wikings, but I come from Denmark (where the wikings come from) so I did not visit that exhibition. Ole can use a lot of time in the museum.

This is a very well curated exhibition. I was impressed with the breadth of viking life that was on display, it was not just about the raids but also home life, religion, food, clothes shelter and much more. Very educational. A must see. The ROM does an excellent job of curating their exhibits!

Thank you for your positive feedback, it's great to hear that you've enjoyed our Vikings Exhibition! Our curators work very hard to put these exhibits together and definitely do appreciate it when visitors like yourself have a wonderful time at the exhibit. Hope to see you again soon. All the best, Tauseef

Had a great visit with my 3 kids (aged 7, 10 and 12) during March break. Decided to take a family membership which represents great value even if you just plan to visit again and not take advantage of any of the additional benefits. The kids enjoyed the Viking special exhibition, and all the usual hands on activities/displays as well.
