Amazing market with amazing colors. Go early because the bread was sold out when we went after lunch. The fruit and veggies were abundant.

We made the mistake of visiting Marche Jean-Talon first, which set a very high standard that Marche Atwater just could not meet. Don't get me wrong--I'm sure the vendors had equally delicious fruits and vegetables. My daughters enjoyed a basket of mixed berries we purchased at Marche Atwater, but there seemed to be far fewer vendors, far fewer prepared food options (although Marche Atwater conveniently clumps them all together in the center of the market), and fewer customers. It doesn't have the energy and contagious happiness that Marche Jean-Talon has.

I did like that there was MORE seating, but there isn't the same demand as what we saw at Marche Jean-Talon (where people hovered hoping to snag a seat when you finished your meal). We had lunch at Lucile's, a stall where we picked up a lobster roll, salmon tartare, fish taco, cheeseburger, sangria for the adults (tasty), and watermelon agua fresca for the kids (too zesty for them, maybe spiked with chili powder, so they ended up tossing them).

Finally, I can't comment on parking because we took an Uber from our place in the Plateau to go to Atwater. If we had been staying closer by, maybe it would have been more worthwhile but I definitely didn't feel like it was a "destination" worth traveling to see.

Although this market is not large it does have some excellent looking produce. Because we were only visiting Montreal ( And flew here ) we were not in the " market " to buy produce . We merely visited here on the advise of a friend . The produce all looked lovely and fresh...good quality. The flowers stalls were very pretty ..full of fall flowers. There are several meat and cheese outlets inside the market building as well. Again, we could not really buy anything, but if we were to stay in the area we probably would have. There is a good array of fresh meats and many cheeses to choose from. At one end of the upper floor is a bakery with fresh baked goods and coffee and tea. There are several other stalls offering a variety of products. Most products seemed reasonably priced.

Bring your camera the colors just pop and there’s plenty to do inside where you can buy chocolate, incredible cheeses from Quebec and all over the world as well as the most spectacular pastries and butcher shops. There’s a great sausage place with dozens of different kinds. Great place to visit to find gifts, clearly not perishable ones but there are so many choices...

Lovely market, people are friendly and it's a safe environment.

Indoor and outdoor shops with little specialty restaurants.
