I've been to 5000 ans for several times in the past few years and the restaurant always has been a safe choice if you're looking for good Korean food downtown. There's usually some free tables and I never had to wait more than a few minutes even on weekend evenings. Waiting staff is okay but on our last visit, it took almost 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order then another 30+ minutes to receive our order. The place wasn't exceptionally busy but the service was much faster several months ago.

The food is pretty great from the bibimbap to soups and BBQ. I would definitely come back for the food but the prices are higher than average, especially compared to Korean restaurants a bit farther from downtown; however it's in line with other restaurants in the neighborhood.

Oh goodness, this place was AWESOME! For our first night in Montreal after traveling for a week, we knew we wanted Asian food for dinner. Luckily, this place was near our hotel--but really hard to find since they have no signs in English or French, just Korean! Our waitress was incredibly friendly and kind in explaining the menu and some of the popular dishes, which helped to influence our order. Our family of 4 shared the spicy tofu and seafood soup, Bulgogi (cooked on a hot place on our table), bibimbap, udon noodle stirfry with beef--all of it was delicious! Especially the slightly sweet udon noodles and the Bulgogi , which our waitress cooked perfectly on our table. Even the accompanying salad and complementary first-course soup were lovely. We gave our compliments to the chef who apparently is from Korea and is only 18 years old! Everything is reasonably priced and it is a good place to share food family style or order on your own. It gets busy around 7 pm on weekend nights, and there was only one waitress working the tables, so plan on a leisurely meal. Wish we had a Korean place this good back home! Would highly recommend!

This place is a must visit!
Sat on the outside patio and was served Bulgogi (beef stir fry with veggies) which was really cool - the grill was brought outside and cooked in front of us. Definitely plenty for 2 people to share. Excellent price.
I want to especially recognize the service at 5000 Ans. Our server was the sweetest person. She was very attentive and when she overheard it was my birthday, brought me dessert with candles and sparklers! We were impressed.
Would absolutely go back next time I am in Montreal - can't wait to try other items on the menu.

We have visited around 4-5 Korean restaurants in Montreal, we keep going back to '5000 ans' for the great service and food quality. Always feel welcomed. Our first visit was around 2009.

Small restaurant but the owners are very friendly. Delicious Korean food. I tried their noodles, looking forward to try their BBQ sometime!
