Its a small compact site but is well restored and is set up with displays that give it an authentic feel. The kids enjoyed exploring the several levels and learning about the function of the tower.

We did this on our own, using the iPads provided at the Tower. It was an interesting introduction to local history, and presented in a way that would be fun for kids.

Three of the original four remain, and one may be toured. They are typical of the many towers built by the British in the 1800’s. They were much sturdier than the Block houses they replaced.

The one near the river offers nice views.

This tower was one of four built. There are 3 left. We drove by on our caleche tour. The upstairs had a gun platform and the main floor could hold an army unit inside. This tower was built by the British and for defence.

We saw the Martello Tower on the Plains of Abraham when we walked to see the Joan of Arc statue. This is where the Canadian Army stored their ammunition.
