As an Education student at the U of R, I have taken out hundreds of books, particularly those written for children. I have read various sources that list high-quality children's books, and it is the very odd time that the Saskatchewan library system does not have a book in its collection. Fantastic!

I love being able to submit a list of books I would like to read. When the books arrive at my library, I receive an email and I just pick up my books. What more can you ask for!

Recently I spent 3 weeks using the digital station to convert vhs home movies onto dvd. Almost no one in Regina seems to know about this self serve station. Before discovering it, I phoned around only to find that it would cost me over five hundred dollars if a business did the transfer. So what is the cost to do this yourself at the main library branch ... zero $. Yes you heard right, it is FREE. Besides vhs to dvd, you can scan film negatives, photos of various sized, and other things. It is a great place to hang out, especially during a cold Sask. winter.

Three times I have gone to pick up a book I reserved that was supposed to be in, and three times staff have had to go on a search for the item. I can't decide if it's the system or the comprehension of the staff. Also, the approach to and foyer of the library make me nervous because of the rough looking crowd that seem to hang out there.

The Main Branch, (Downtown), is currently undergoing renovations, so the escalators are not working and a reduced quantity of paperbacks and Young Adult books are on display near the check-out counter.
The George Bothwell Branch has recently undergone extensive renovations and is now a state-of-the-art facility, with multi-purpose rooms which can be separated from the main area with sliding glass doors, a wonderful Children's corner, and a separate area for teens and young adults, which is always well-used. All the furniture and shelving units are on wheels, so they can be re-arranged for various events such as the Top Shelf Book Club. There is a room for activities, a coffee station with comfortable chairs by the fire, and laptop computers which can be borrowed for use in the library, as well as a business section. The flooring has been well-chosen, and looks very nice as well as being practical, whilst areas of the ceiling muffle noise, and there is special lighting throughout.
Saskatchewan is fortunate to have SILS, (Saskatchewan Integrated Library System), so that one can order any book online and it will be delivered to the branch nearest to where one lives.
