On arriving at The Old House at Home Inn we were greeted by a warm smile from Vanessa who was multi tasking from behind the bar in the pub area of this beautiful old inn. She welcomed us and showed us to our room (no.4, Japanese themed) which was immaculate and like the whole venue had great attention to every detail . Tea & coffee was provided in a great, compact kettle & drawer unit & the large, flat screen tv was really a bonus in the room The shower room was well designed and very clean with shower gel, body lotion, bottled water, disposable slippers and fluffy towels available. The radiator in the bedroom could be adjusted to guests preference & the bed was comfortable with 100% cotton bed linen! We only stayed one night as we were going to a party locally but i could have happily made this a very comfortable base for discovering the beautiful local area and visiting Bath. Cooked breakfast was in the price as was the usual cereals, yogurts and juice. I would highly recommend this wonderful place to stay and do NOT be put off by the main road you really do not hear it once you are tucked up in your super room. Thank you very much to Vanessa who even went out of her way to drop us back to our car from where it was parked the night before!!!!

Room Tip: All the rooms have a different theme and excellent they are in a row in a separate building - stable style to main pub/house.

Our family has used this restaurant for many years and had a lot of nice times and good food. On this visit we found the staff even more friendly than before and the food excellent across a wide range of dishes.
We can only imagine they were short staffed as the service was very slow throughout the whole meal. This wasn’t a major problem this time but had we been short of time it it would have been.
We have now talked to other family members who said the service has become slow. We will be back but hope they can get back on track or we will have to find an alternative which we don’t want to do.

Cannot fault the pub, great atmosphere, comfortable and welcoming.
Food menu offers a great choice and portions are generous. Well presented and hot. Evening meals and breakfast highly recommended.
The staff are delightful, friendly, helpful, but not overly so. Nothing is too much trouble!
The room we had was small, over heated, slightly dated. Clean and functional. Great shower. TV with a mind of its own and a dated kettle with tiny cups. Small double with a VERY saggy /blancmange mattress. Not really worth the high price charged.Better bed with a better mattress, better quality pillows and a decent tea/coffee set up would have made all the difference.
Great to be able to sit out on the veranda area and relax after a busy day.
8/10, redo the rooms and it would be a 10. I'd still recommend it, but not if you're on a budget.

Two couples visited this delightful pub for a Saturday evening meal and we were delighted.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the service was good without being hurried.
The food was very good pub standard - tasty and good portions.
We have now booked for a family birthday dinner in September.

This very pleasant pub hotel is on a country road in a small village near Castle Combe race circuit. It is convenient and very pleasant. If Trip Advisor had a category GOOD then I would use that instead of VERY GOOD or AVERAGE. There is enough parking but it is limited at busy times. We had a good breakfast and everything went smoothly. OUr dinner on the previous evening was pleasant but huge portions of meat(really big in the case of the pork belly) with just too much mash seemed a waste to me and I have a good appetite. It's better than the average pub grub and clearly a very popular choice as we had difficulty getting a table. The staff were extremely obliging so all in all this is a good place to stay even though the bedrooms are a bit compact. The bathroom was fine, also compact and with a shower. However, there is only a rain shower and no hand held attachment and many women consider this to be unsatisfactory. In fact I have never stayed anywhere where there is only a rain shower and hand held attachment. Great for men. The mini hair straighteners in the room were and interesting addtiion and the Tassimo coffee/tea maker was much appreciated.

Room Tip: All the rooms appear to be motel style, each one with a different theme. You have to keep the window blind down all the time for privacy.
