Shame to see the other reviews here- we loved our time at the hostel. Yes ok, maybe the staff are a bit disorganised BUT it's kind of part of the charm of the place - almost like you're in someone's welcoming home, they are super chilled, let you leave your bags and even use the pool/showers before you check in (as check in is 2pm like most places). The breakfast you pay for but it's so so delicious and massive potions for a decent price. Lovely doggies running around the place, beautiful grounds and lovely views. Also people mentioning it is 'dirty' - no, it's because selfish travellers come back from the muddy hikes and walk into the rooms / bathrooms making it gross. We stayed there for 3 days and saw them cleaning but then another traveller would come in with muddy boots and dirty it again.
Great family run hostel!!

The hostel is unorganized, staff are very aloof and unhelpful, dirty in general. No kitchen and their restaurant is quite expensive though portions were large. To top it off I found bed bugs after my second night...Do not stay here!

Salento and surrounding was beautiful, a place to enjoy nature and coffee. Unfortunately, the hostel was a whole disappointment. There was no check-in, a lady (probably working for the hostel) just showed me where to sleep. The reception seems to be the open kitchen. Every time I tried to get some information (for example where the bathrooms are), the person in charge was busy with preparing food or drinks in the kitchen - therefore not able to pay too much attention to me. No fresh bed sheets, no towel and just too many people sharing two bathrooms.
When i was in Salento, it rained every afternoon for an hour or two. After that, the room and the bathrooms looked like a mess. I changed the hostel after two nights.

I enjoyed the Hilltop hospitality every night when I visited Salento, even though I did not stay there. The place is beutiful, comfortable, and wellcoming. The food in the restraunt of the hostel is fresh made and realy tasety. The owner is friendly with knowlage of the area and more.
