Relaxing spa hotel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Jun 2024
Stayed here whilst going to F1 in Spielberg which was an hour away. Lovely relaxing hotel great family room and welcoming staff. Great food and wine pairings. Restaurant was well organised and cocktails were pleasant. Great choice of pools and relaxation rooms.

This was our choice to relax and adjust to a different timezone before going for a week of skiing.
I pretty much booked because if was keen on the outdoor pool and some wellness/spa.

The hotel was located between Vienna and our ski chalet so ideal location - you have to drive up to the Teichalm though. There was hardly any snow when we arrived but otherwise you need snow chains for your car.

You can drive up to the hotel and check in was very friendly: mostly in Austrian though so sometimes a bit hard to follow but we made it.
We booked a suite as it had a separate room for our son - nice large area with hallway where we could keep our luggage (a lot as we had all our skis gear). Large bathroom with amenities and a separate toilet. We also had a large balcony with loungers and chairs: not the nicest view as it overlooked the mountains and the carpark but it was fine.
There was a mini bar but no water kettle or tea making facilities - we did ask for a water kettle as I need coffee in the morning and arriving with jet lag means I am up early. It took 3 times of getting back to reception but then the kettle arrived.

Hotel has an all inclusive concept which was not explained to us during check-in so we had to figure out along the way and in the restaurant. Turned out there is a buffet for your starter, you order a main and there is dessert. Drinks are still to be paid for. Buffet with starters was really full of choice and nice quality. Same concept for lunch and breakfast buffet was amazing with really good choices of herbal tea and good coffee

They have a nice bar area with a log fire and nibbles.

Wellness area is massive but not really my thing - too many sweaty bodies around. But the pool was fantastic and opens at 7am so I went for my early morning laps and was mostly alone. Steam coming from the pool while you watch the sunrise over the all, beautiful. There was also a large outdoor hot jacuzzi and both pool and jacuzzi were open till late so after our early dinner we went for some relaxing time and no one there anymore.

All in all a really nice hotel, friendly staff, lovely walks around the all, super relaxing

Beautiful hotel and SPA. Excellent cuisine and a more than dedicated staff. From breakfast to dinner the layout and quality of the food was extraordinary. Excellent wine cellar and knowledgeable sommelier. The SPA and the related facilities were in top notch condition. We are pretty sure to return as soon as possible

A truly wonderful hotel-resort.
We went for a hiking and spa weekend, and it was a perfect choice for both. I liked the variety of swimming pools. There are many places to relax around the wellness area, regardless of the season. Overall, an attractive and contemporary design that feels classic enough to fit in well with its natural surroundings. Moreover, it incorporates those natural elements. And we also noticed the consistent use of the Pierer branding, which was simple, modest, and suited the resort and its location quite well.

There is direct access to great hiking all around. We took the route up to Hochlantsch and the Schüsserlbrunn (highly recommended) - but there are several routes worthy of a return.

The room we had at Hotel Pierer was spacious, clean, and very nice, with a great, private balcony. The mattress was not as firm as my liking - I would say it is far from the special, luxurious feel that the room or rest of the hotel has, but it was ok.

The restaurant was excellent. Fantastic breakfast spread, in particular. Also a good place to try wines from the region.

We really liked the staff. Very helpful and friendly.

While the location is splendid, it takes some work to get there. The drive from the north - up, down, and up again with switchbacks - is a great journey, but do it in daytime hours, and allow plenty of time.

Hotel Pierer was totally worth it, and we look forward to returning!

had a family suite with seperate child room; lot's of space there and nice terrace;
staff is superfriendly and helpful, and the whole Wellness area is outstanding;
location is perfect for little hikes with little kids, while on site there are no facilities for littel kids (pool are, playground and such); but anyhow, that place is supposed to enjoy nature; FOOD is fantastic

Room tip: family suite is perfect, cannot comment on the other rooms available

Various members of our family and ourselves have been coming here since almost the beginning as my husband was born in the area. Every visit this hotel just gets better and better.
This visit we stayed in the new garden suites. Absolutely stunning. Spotlessly clean, modern, hugely spacious with enormous terrace which overlooks the hills and the cows grazing.
The new infinity pool is incredible. Loved spending time in the quiet rooms too.

The service is fabulous and always so nice to see some familiar faces each visit.

The food is extremely generous with an amazing choice each day.
Yes, most of the guests are German speaking but it’s no problem if you don’t speak German as menus can be in English too.

Team Pierer you have done an outstanding job building your brand. It’s always fabulous to return and see you all again. Until next time. Thank you.
