Visited there for a weekend trip with family for 2 days/1 night.

Pros:
Nice place to stay. Better than average but not the best.

Staffs are very good and well behaved.

Booked 2 executive Sea facing rooms, they are connected internally. Rooms & toilets are clean.

They serves food in the rooms but we enjoyed the sea side lobby for lunch or dinner.

Cons:
Don't forget to switch on the goodnight/allout at night. Few mosquitos may destroy your sweet dreams.

Stairs are not cleaned for long time, you can see a thick layer of sands. Also some old and torn cushions are dumped beside the staircases which looks very bad.

There no intercom system installed for room service, every time you have to come on the balcony and look for some one for service.

They switched off AC around 5am for 4 hours. Though the weather was pleasant that time. Later come to know they switch off ACs for everyday in morning for 3 hours.

Finally, lot of scopes are there to improve. But overall, it was a good experience. Would suggest to stay there.

Room Tip: Any 1st floor room, most of them are sea facing. Avoid Cottage

October 2014 : Made an impromptu plan post Durga Puja to Mandarmani and was lucky to find the most premium rooms @ Masara for our stay.

Location : The access to the beach is absolutely bang on; not even throw a stone away !! Yes it is on the beach with the most minimum walk from your room at the hotel when compared to any other property in Mandarmani

Rooms & Bathrooms : Very neat, clean & spacious rooms. I had booked the top category rooms and it is the 2nd best in Mandarmani for sure. Every room in the said category is equipt with a Sony Bravia LED Television & an O-General Window AC which chills to the core. You will not find that in the entire of Mandarmani. All bathrooms are tiled with modern tiles and all bath fittings are of Roca & Jaguar. Very well done up place must say !! The room & the bathroom share a big glass window which adds to the beauty of the room.

*Note - You will get what you pay for. If you choose the base category room, you might not get what I just mentioned. It's a personal choice. Though a lot of the above might be a standard feature in most hotels/ resorts in other parts of India, however these attributes are seriously lacked in most of the resorts in Mandarmoni. So would consider these features to be upmarket according to Mandarmani standards.

Flora & Fauna : Nicely manicured and well maintained garden. A nice patch of greenery before every cottage adds to the flora & fauna of the place. I guess certain guests lack civil sense who themselves litter the greens with pet bottles etc. inspite of the hotel providing with dust bins on the common areas at every 15-20 feet. Grow up guests !!

Food, Beverage : Breakfast menu is ordinary but is filling and tasty. We got Poha, Puri Sabji, Eggs the way you like it with tea, coffee on both the days in their restaurant/ eating room near the kitchen. However, the Poha was the fast mover and would get exhausted very quick. The menu could have changed slightly on the following day; would be more appreciated. There is no set menu for lunch & dinner though. There is an Ala-Cart menu from which you can choose and pre order your meal mentioning the time you want it for ease at all ends. We had dinner on both the days at the Masara and the Snacks & main Coarse was very well made. A home away from home experience. The food is better than Rose Valley (now named Suncity) for sure !!

Service : Cannot complain in spite of certain teething issues. The guys took very good care of us. Chilled our beer & wine bottles that we carried with us alongwith curd & milk which we carried for our kiddo. They even kept the ice that we were carrying in an ice box with us in their own freezer for our convenience. Arranged for extra towels, pillows & blankets without any issue. Also, they arranged for us to sit outside in the common driveway with chairs, table etc. and served our snacks &dinner there itself so that we could enjoy the evening breeze and relax. We managed to park our car right before our room and played some music to add to the ambiance of the evening. The very same day, another group requested for a bon fire on the beach itself and it was arranged by them and their dinner was also served there especially for them. Good going guys !! The only thing they need to fix up is their in room telephones which seems to be disturbed due to unavoidable circumstances.

Overall has everything enstored to become a potential competition to the No.1 Resort in Mandarmoni. But lacks behind due to the absence of a swimming pool which is badly missed. Would definitely want to go again in a bigger group in the winters for some super fun so that I do not miss the swimming pool that much !!

Room Tip: Choose the Ground Floor Rooms 1003, 1004 etc. They are cooler & closest to the beach !

Firstly I would like to say that all those who are seeking a quite time away from the hustle bustle of the city..Mandarmani is no longer the place to be..try Tajpur instead. Mandarmani has been commercialized. Coming to the hotel. Masara is located at around 50 feet of the bay of Bengal. It is located in a secluded place. The resort is yet yo be fully constructed. Coming to the positives first..
Located in a secluded place in a calm and serene place. No shops nearby. Crabs walk into your room through under the doors at night. At least that happened with me. Nice place to stay for couples not seeking disturbance. You would sleep like a baby here.
The negatives: Very expensive rooms. Not up to the mark. Bathroom floor was broken. Curtains are not thick enuf. Food again is mediocre and expensive. Not at all value for money. Staff seemed disinterested, the resort stays empty through most of the year. They were perhaps irritated to see guests. Oh yes. There are plenty of insects . remember to ask for liquidator. Place wise Mandarmani gets 7/10. The hotel gets 5/10, a generous one. Overall it was a 2.5/5 experience.

I drove down from Kolkata in end of June 2014 and was there for 2 nights. Chose it for its low rate of Rs 1800 + taxes per night which turned out to be a big mistake. Let me point out the pros and cons:

Pros:

Location - its right on the beach and you can literally see the waves hitting the hotel boundaries at high tide.
Price - We managed to get a room (in a hotel on the beach) at Rs 1800 + tax which seemed to be a good deal.

OK:

Room Cleanliness: Though not great but acceptable.
Food Quality: Though exorbitantly priced was just acceptable.

Could have been better:

Some chairs or a restaurant overlooking the sea beach (as we weren't in a sea facing room).

Cons:

Generator switched off: We were the only inmates (possibly as we stayed on a weekday) and the generator was switched off every now and then (to cut down costs presumably). We had to shout at the staff every time to turn it on. Yes it was switched off for more than 4 hours in a day.
Approaching road: There is no proper road to the resort but a broken tarmac at close to 30 degree incline. It was a major challenge to drive in and out without scraping the car's underbelly.
Bathroom cleanliness: Was damp and dirty with no disinfection done before letting out the room.
Staff Attitude: Was terrible, rude and everything else you can associate with un-friendly people.

Highlights of bad service: I don't understand why the checkout time coincides with high tide timings when no body can leave the hotel as the sea comes right at the door steps. When we were stuck up due to high tide the generator was switched off and were demanded Rs 1500 for 2 hours (till the water recedes).

Verdict: I don't know who owns the property but there was terribly bania-panti which we felt all the time we were at the hotel. To me hospitality and this attitude doesn't blend together.

TIP: I will suggest everyone reading this post to bump up his/her budget a bit and try those like Sana Beach Resort or Rose Valley - this bad service and torture doesn't justify the few rupees saved.

No I am not recommending this hotel to anyone or going back again.
