Really worth it to stay and sleep in this farm. The daily and night activities are very nice for elderly people. It is all inclusive food and the atmosfere is completely out of urban routine. We can see a lot of animals and birds.

Room Tip: far from the reception

The Fazenda is a 150 km2 working farm with plantation, cattle and a private reserve. We stayed in the pousada for 3 days with a predefined schedule that included walking, riding, going down river in a canoe and boat, fishing for piranha and night view in search of wildlife. In all we had a fairly occupied time with all the visits made on time with very hepfull and knowledgeable guides

The rooms where basic with a nice porch

Room Tip: We stayed at the rooms farthest from the main building which where quiet (except for the parrots)

I spent three nights here along with a group of wildlife enthusiasts with our own private English speaking guide. He was concerned that we wouldn't see much wildlife since it was the transitional season (early June) and the rains had not yet stopped. But, wow, we were so impressed - 5 ocelots in 45 minutes, several giant anteaters, jabirus, capybaras, caimans, a 10' anaconda, brown capuchins, wood storks, hyacinth macaws, giant river otter and more birds than I can list!

The rooms were clean, spacious and had a/c and small refrigerators. We stopped before getting there so we could purchase large bottles of water to have in our rooms, instead of buying smaller bottles each day.

The tours were excellent - boat trips on two rivers, morning and night photo safaris, horseback riding and walking on the boardwalk to the observation tower.

Activities are well coordinated and organized. The staff went out of their way to make sure we all saw and were able to photograph the various birds and wildlife.

Meals are buffet style with a few options to choose from with most of it varying from day to day. Eggs are available at breakfast if you ask for them.

Although some comments mentioned the influx of day-trippers, we didn't feel overcrowded at any meals. Usually we were gone on our tours before the buses arrived, so only saw large crowds for lunch, but there is ample seating.

Although Zika was a concern prior to our trip, we saw very, very few mosquitoes. I counted 6 in two weeks!!

Wi-fi is available in the lobby/patio area, but is very weak. You are quite isolated, so it's nice to have it at all!

This was a great introduction to the southern Pantanal and we were quite impressed with the family's dedication to the environment.

I highly recommend this place. It has great wildlife viewing programmes. The organisation is excellent and the staff very friendly. The setting is beautiful and you see many gorgeous birds in the area especially hunting birds like falcons, hawks and eagles. If you are a English speaker ask for an english speaking guide so that you have the correct names of the animals. This is a working Fazenda and there are many different types of cows and horses. I saw many Macaws and parakeets and storks near the farm and huge variety of birds outwith the farm. The farm owns great tracts of land and during my five days there I saw badgers, otters, water birds, a jaguar twice, an Ocelot, Foxes, Ant eaters and many more. It was an experience of a life time. The accommodation is comfortable. There is no wifi or TV in the rooms. The food is excellent and fresh served buffet style.

If you want the oppertunity to meet and see the wildlife I recommend you to stay in this fazenda.
We stayed 5 nights and every day we enjoy the spotting of numerous type of births and animals not only during the excursions but alsoo on the fazenda itself. We've booked a full package and every day they offered us three different excursions, 2 hours each. Everything is well organized and the staff is very friendly, you will feel yourselve at home.
The accomodation is simple but very clean and equipped with airco. The included breakfast and meals are good. I recommend you to bring the OFF repellant (better than deet) with you which you can buy in every local drugstore because of the numerous mosquittos. Alsoo wear sturd shoes, long sleeves and trousers special at night.
Do not forget to bring your raincoat and cap. Malaria pills are not required.

English contact person from Fazenda San Francisco is Roberta.

Public transport against a very competitive price to Campo grande v.v. can be arranged.
We recommand Lilian, ask Roberta for contact information.

Valuable is to book an English speaking guide as well for explanation. We recommand the quide Edir Abes, ask Roberta for information.

Stayed: February 2016, travelled as a couple
