We booked the 2 day, 1 night safari package for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. One must remember that Inverdoorn is a sanctuary rather than a traditional "game reserve" like Kruger or some of the bigger parks. If you want a safari taster from Cape Town, Inverdoorn is the place.
The drive from Cape Town is long and the last few kilometres are over very tough gravel roads, so prepare yourself. Upon arrival, we were shown to our cabana, which was clean and airy. A buffet lunch Ch then afternoon drinks before the first safari were nothing fancy, just refreshing. The first game drive was about 2.5 hours and we saw springbok, water buffalo, rhino and hippos. We returned to the lodge to a nice dinner, again nothing fancy but you are out in the middle of nowhere!
The next morning a very early wake up was greeted with a roaring fire, coffee and pastries before a sunrise game drive. This time we saw lions, cheetah, giraffes and of course springbok. We returned to the lodge around 11 and checked out.
Overall, Inverdoorn is a great experience. Yes, there is limited wi-fi, not Michelin cuisine and you won't see huge packs of the Big 5. This is NOT Kruger - it is a sanctuary that rehabs and saves animals. Keep that in mind and you will have a very good experience.
