Ok so I shall deal with the room for improvement first, yes this pub/ restaurant has had a major overhaul/ refurbishment and is still yet to completely finished and I think they have had a few teething problems, but this is to be expected, even for the best of places.

Now onto the excellent bits. The food was excellent, high quality tender meat, this is the easy bit! However what impressed me the most were the veggies, today red cabbage (which I love) cooked to perfection, cauliflower and broccoli with cheese, NOT soggy/ over cooked or for that matter under cooked. The veggies were fresh and if I’m not mistaken just great home cooked food. The roast potatoes again just like home cooked, don’t believe they have seen a freezer and cooked from frozen like so many carveries.

The staff were helpful and attentive.

Relaxed in the bar after and just watched the people come and go, a very relaxed atmosphere!
This area certainly needs a nice place to chill either as a couple or with family and I certainly felt that The Gull provided this, The Gull I feel will only improve and get better and better with a little time, you can certainly see they have put a lot of time and effort to provide a lovely place.

Looking forward to coming back again soon

I visited here with family a few days ago but was quite disappointed. The signs outside claim that there is a "posh carvery" on offer but the carvery selection was very limited and basic (no sauces out etc, you had to ask for these). The main menu is not out yet and so the only option was to have carvery or one of the three daily specials. The food on offer at the carvery had clearly been sitting out a while and was lukewarm.

The building has been substantially refurbished but is certainly not finished. There is still a lot of dust inside (sawdust on the carpet and there was a lot of dust sitting on table legs).

Staff were not overly helpful or welcoming. We weren't even asked how our meal was which surprised me for a new restaurant.

Overall, me and my family were very disappointed. We were really hoping this would become our new local but it needs to be finished and for some improvements to happen before we would consider returning to give it a second chance.

The outside area does look very nice so perhaps in the summer it will be a nice place to have a drink.

Wow, had an amazing Sunday lunch for the re-opening of The Gull Inn following a massive refurbishment under new management. It looks amazing inside and out with a stunning balcony & seating area overlooking the fields. The inside looks light and spacious whilst it has retained lots of original features, and the discovery of a brick lined well which has a thick glass cover so you can see down it.
The chef had cooked a beautiful carvery with a choice of beef, pork or chicken with a vegetarian option of vegetable crumble. Some added extras were roasted fennel and mustard mash which were a lovely change.
The deserts were equally fabulous, I had a stunning Dark Chocolate & Amaretto pot which was delicious. If you are looking for somewhere new for lunch or dinner I would highly recommend trying a The Gull Inn.
