We greatly enjoyed staying at Puri Segara. The north of the island is much quieter than the south, and the villa itself was both spacious and open while remaining quiet and secluded.

As a location, Puri Segara was absolutely stunning, opening directly onto beach and with views along the coast to volcanoes (dormant!) and the island of Java in the distance. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The meals were excellent, with pancakes, omelettes and fresh fruit for breakfast and more traditional Indonesian food in the evening.

If you want to go out in the evening to bars and restaurants, these are a little way away and transportation would be needed. This is no real issue as taxis are available and many of the bigger restaurants are willing to send a car to pick you up anyway.

The rooms were all brilliant. Two are situated to look out over the pool to the ocean. The third is set back a little and so has greater privacy but also correspondingly less view. The fourth bedroom has the most stunning view of all, being situated on a mezzanine floor above the lounge.
