By day this building houses a modest museum that depicts the history of Campeche township, with a significant focus on the pirate aspects of its background. Spread over two levels, the free museum access includes the second story balcony that runs the full length of the building and overlooks the park and provides great views of the adjacent Cathedral.

By night this building becomes an integral part of a wonderful sound and light show, Friday through Sunday evenings only at 8pm. From across the street, 6 pole mounted projectors illuminate the entire front of this building for an unexpectedly entertaining and unashamed celebration of this building, and the natural, social and cultural history of Campeche. The images and music are bright, vivid, lively and engaging. After 20 minutes it over too soon, to the applause of all who were watching from across the street in the park.

I loved the mapping show "Celebrando Campeche", it brought tears to my eyes. I'm a sucker for traditions and history, and being a mexican I felt so moved by it. It's super well done and the building it is projected is kept in the best conditions.

Do enjoy it from the kiosko, the nearest bench doesn't get such a good viewing with the square's gate in the way.

I've been to many museums, and this particularly, is great.
Great exhibits in English and spanish, the muséographie is very well done.
The building itself is magnificent.
And its free!!!!
Try to book the guided tour, also free, to have access to the interactive rooms.
Also a great experience

I past by there many times, and there was always something going on - during the day as well a in the evening. This square is also lighted up at night & should be viewed.. It is great for people watching, for the big trees provide ample shade during the day.
