I stayed at Casa Real for 2 nights with a cycling touring group. Every room was gorgeous with the lower level opening to the quiet courtyard. Newly remodeled and reopened right before my visit. The public areas are beautifully furnished and are historic. The food was excellent and the staff replenished wine and spirits free upon request (not sure if that was just part of our group tour arrangement) so no need for a minibar. The grounds extensive for walking and the gardens are beautiful. Because of the historic and antique furnishings I'm not sure this is a good place for kids, but I know the staff would bend backwards to accommodate. There isn't a thing I would change about my visit.

Room Tip: Most of the lower level rooms open to the courtyard. I don't know about the view on the upper l...

We found ourselves staying at the Santa Rita Vineyards for last two nights of bicycle trip through Chile. This extravagant yet old world location was an amazing place to relax, eat fine food and drink superb wine. We walked the gardens, watched a commercial being filmed at the winery and relaxed on the porch with an adorable dog sleeping by our feet. We plan to return here for our next trip to Santiago. Only 20 miles from the city, but in another world.

A most beautiful casa located in a vineyard which produces award-winning wine.
Originally built as a gift for his European wife, Casa Real shows it is a labor of love in quality. It’s 16 simple rooms surround one beautiful landscaped courtyard. The grounds include a lake with black-necked swans, a pool, and a lovely chapel.
Service in all areas is exemplary.

Room Tip: Any room has a spectacular view

The Casa Real is the original estate house for the Santa Rita winery and is stunning. It's large and yet friendly. The rooms are enormous, very comfortable, with a sitting room area, wide screen TV, large bathroom, comfortable bed with top quality linens etc. Although there is no A/C the temperature in the room was very comfortable because of the windows and breeze and we were there in the Chilean summer.
We ate our group welcome dinner in a dining room to rival Downton Abbey with matching service! Breakfast was fresh juices and fruit, eggs to order, toast etc.
The gardens around the house are stunning, think stately home with flower beds, lake with swans, maze, so many different trees and shrubs.
There is a private museum on site with an amazing collection of pre-colombian artifacts all beautifully displayed, entrance was free for us as guests.
Our group was invited to participate in blending our own wines which was a very fun activity and we got to take our blend home together with an apron. There is also a wine store though I didn't go there but I suspect it will be very tempting. There was no pressure at all to buy which was appreciated. There seemed to be other daily visitors to the estate but basically we felt as if we were the only people there, it's quiet and refined and yet also laid back.
Wifi was free but not very reliable, apparently they are working to improve it. But no worries, the place itself more than compensates for being disconnected for a day or two, not a bad thing!

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms seemed brighter.

This is a beautiful place. The gardens are extensive and fascinating. Peace and quiet yet such easy access to Santiago. Excellent wines, good food, perfect place to gently unwind. Would recommend without hesitation.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Vina Santa Rita was founded in 1880 by the well-respected businessman Domingo Fernandez Concha. He also commissioned German architect Teodoro Burchard to build his Pompeian-style summer home on the property with a neo-gothic chapel beside it. Two years later the renowned French landscape architect Guillermo Renner designed the 40-hectare park that surrounds the hotel. His sophisticated landscaping also incorporated Italian, French, and English-style sculptures. With 16 guest rooms as well as lounges and dining rooms, this boutique hotel strives to offer the best service to the most demanding guests in a refined, welcoming, and personalized setting reminiscent of that experienced in many of the castles and vineyards in France. Hotel Casa Real is located on the Vina Santa Rita estate. Its late 19th-century Pompeian style has been preserved, making this one of Chile’s unique historic monuments. The hotel has 16 elegant guest rooms, exceptional dining with an ample and diverse selection of our wines, and excellent service—all immersed in an exclusive and absolutely private setting. In addition to enjoying this beautiful hotel, its surroundings, and its cultural and historic heritage, guests can also visit the impressive Andean Museum and choose a range of different activities and winery tours. ... more   less
