Little Mistletoe is a perfect holiday home for that couple wishing to get away from it all. Set in the country within arms reach of several towns with great history and attractions for a couple or people with children this is a great place to stay, Myself, my partners and our 14 months old daughter loved it.

The only reservations we had was that we had to pay a lot more than the going rate for electric per unit used and we were told not to use the shower for long periods due to the fact the it uses up gas (which the owners pays) and the owners have a pump out system in place for waste. When you pay for a self catering holiday home (even at the reasonable rate it was) and to be fair you are told about an extra charge your dont expect it to be around double the going rate.We were also told not to stream or download to much as it uses up the owners bandwidth. When you pay for a holiday home you dont expect to be told these things as it puts a damper on your stay.

Having said that the owner was lovely and even thoughtful enough to bring a brilliant little toy over for our daughter to play with, she also makes lovely little ceramic bits, we purchased some beautiful buttons as a keepsake from our stay.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The electricity heating tariff are only charged during the winter months. 20pence per unit is reflected in our renewable generating costs of wind turbine and solar panels. It's an environmental position that we like to provide. The going commercial rate is 15p per unit. The limit to wifi streaming was originally stated in the house instructions because of our rural location and limited ADSL bandwidth (1 Mbs per second). We have since upgraded to superfast broadband received by radio link. Therefore streaming is no longer a problem and those house instructions in the folder have now been removed. Sorry this was an oversight by myself and I'm glad you brought this to my attention. People can shower unlimited but I do always mention not to overshower again due to not being on main drainage. The shower has continues and instant hot water and people have taken advantage of this in the passed. I therefore ask my guests to take this into consideration.

We have just returned from this little rural retreat - we had a fabulous time. It's so nice to find an escape from the woes of everyday life - and really only just up the road. The accommodation was lovely and cosy - the hosts were really very helpful. Reading through the guest book it is clear to see that we were not the only ones to think highly of Little Mistletoe . Hopefully, we'll get a chance to return when the weather is warm enough to brave the walk to the pub across the field.

“Perfect Peaceful Beauty”

We arrived on the Saturday to cosy, comfortable, country retreat set in beautiful surroundings with autumns colours everywhere. We stayed for 4 nights. The were eggs on the table, the bed was made and the heating was on. We had a good introduction to the chalet and it was very welcoming. The off-road parking mad me feel at ease when leaving my car in an unknown area :) The kitchen was well-equipped, we made beautiful pasta and had nibbles another night, but with Canterbury down the road we ate out twice. We loved and were overjoyed by the quirky lighting, cosy bedding, hot power shower and the sky tele was great, especially with the winter weather :) We played chess whilst having a cider with Friends on in the background. When I saw the photos I was worried about being cold, but was very shocked, its very very warm and the towel radiator in the bathroom added a little bit of luxury. The accommodation was clean and tidy and the crystals on the window made it personal :)

It was ideally located from Canterbury where we explored several times the old English street and seeing it lit up at night was extra special. It is 20 minutes from Folkstone and 25 mins from Dover white cliffs. We also explored the Wingham wildlife park and that was only half hour away :)

We will be returning very soon to sightsee again :)

It's a lovely cottage, beautiful surroundings, peaceful and quiet. I wanted a place to study and this was a good place to do so. Plus, The Cottage is located close to several libraries, such as Templeman library at The University of Kent which opens from early morning to midnight, this was great.

Dianne (owner) lives in the next door's house and she's wonderful. She welcome me kindly on my arrival and was super helpful during my stay. There was also a complimentary Apple juice bottle at my arrival and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the stay and the whole experience, thanks Dianne!! Much appreciated :)

Little Mistletoe is a log cabin in the garden of the owner. Sounds a bit ordinary, but when you arrive you realise it is a beautiful garden set in peaceful country side with stunning views on the way to it. There is peace and quiet in abundance and it's location makes Little Mistletoe ideal as a base for touring Kent and Sussex. There is all you need for your stay and it is somewhere you can really relax. As out-of-the-way as it is there are all mod cons., including internet connection,Sky and a dvd player.

Management Response

Hello Bill, Glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet at a Little Misteltoe. Just to reassure further guests, the intermittent water pressure in the shower was due to a lag in the pressure vessel switching valve which maintains water pressure from a borehole pump. This has now been fixed. We are so isolated here that mains water pressure isn't up to standard hence the borehole installation which makes for pure and delicious fresh water which is cleaned by UV light and has been checked in a lab and keeps the water pressure at sufficient pressure to run all appliances. One of the attractions of this remote location is that it's all run on renewables such as wind turbines and solar pv for your electricity.
The bed has been made softer by a matrass bumper and we have now also bought a vintage radio which is loved already. Thank you very much for that tip, as we like to improve our guests stay where possible.
Kind regards, Dianne
