“Just perfect”
Reviewed 11 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Great little place and just perfect for us for a short break en-route home, after a week in Mull. Beautifully finished, with top quality bed linen, kitchenware and bathroom. Lots of little touches, including tea, coffee, milk and biscuits for when you arrive. The owners, who live in the adjoining building, were so very friendly and helpful, without being at all intrusive. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

This proved to be a most comfortable studio flat, and a great base from which to tour the area. We could not have been more pleased.

“A fine place suitable for two”
Reviewed 18 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

A small cottage with everything in two rooms. At first we thought it was tiny but actually found it to be quite spacious and perfect for our needs. Hadn't realised when booking there was no washing machine but found it quite nice not to have to do washing. Clean and comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. Be aware there is some traffic noise.

Liked best: Nice comfy bed
Liked least: The sofa cover was in good condition but the cushions had become flat, and would benefit from new padding

“Lovely cosy cottage, ideal for exploring Northumbria.”
Reviewed 2 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

we spent a most ejoyable week at Besom Barn. It was an ideal jumping off ground for the Northumbrian coast, as well as many other places of interest , such as National Trust properties, Anwick Garden, and picturesque villages. The cottage was ideal for a couple, with everything we needed. The studio arrangement was very spacious and convenient. we recieved a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners, Chris and Sue who lived next door. They were never far away and they had good local knowledge to answer any queries. The cottage wasn't far from the village centre, which included a shop and two pubs which both served food. Even though there was a main road close by, the cottage complex stood back, and it was very quiet inside. There was a lovely view of open countryside from the kitchen window. we would definitely recommend this cottage as a cosy rustic retreat,

“Lovely cottage in a great location”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This is a lovely little cottage and the owners were very friendly and helpful. What really makes it great is the location. Northumberland offers so many interesting days out and this cottage is within easy driving distance of most. A car really is essential as the village is quite small so bigger shops require a drive, also the cottage sits on a busy road with no path which we were not very comfortable walking on so we tended to drive to the village even though its only a 15 minute walk. However the village is only a minutes drive and has a small shop for essentials. It also has two nice pubs which both serve good food, we particularly liked the food at the Granby. The cottage is pet friendly as are many of the attractions in Northumberland so we found we could often take our dog with us. I would definitely recommend this cottage and Northumberland as an area.
