The house is absolutely beautiful and has been impeccably renovated. The bedrooms are all comfortable and spacious, the top floor has a wonderful sun room with views over the Sicilian countryside and bedrooms with their own ensuite.

We made full use of the outdoor BBQ and swimming pools, with a ping pong table in the pool house and large outdoor dining areas. The high walls around the property guarantee privacy and a sense of quiet and peace.

The town itself is not particularly picturesque, but the locals are extremely welcoming and there is a good supermarket from which to buy groceries.

We would love to be able to keep this place a secret, however the owners were so accommodating and kind, and the house so wonderful, that it is only fair to let others enjoy it too.

“Neither Words nor Photos Can Do this Villa Justice”

Whilst I had high expectations from the photos, nothing could prepare you for the quality and the size of the villa. Truly it was like having the run of a luxurious/boutique hotel for yourselves.

We arrived very late (thanks to Ryanair's late schedule). It is about 50 mins drive from the airport, make sure you set your SatNav to Motorways (about 80 kms) rather than minor roads (50 kms of largely unpaved roads), Livia the owner had arranged for somebody to be present even at 1:30am.

The main house is separated into 3 areas. Ground floor for glass veranda, living area and kitchen. First floor (3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) and 2nd floor (2 bedrooms and, I think 2 bathrooms). There are two other guesthouses on the premises, each with a bedroom and bathroom (I think).

The kitchen is very well equipped, with gas hob and electric fan oven. Since Italians only have Expressos, we sometime wished for some large mugs for tea and coffee. There is also a pool house with a Table tennis table and laundry area.

The heated pool was massive and had about 9 excellent sun loungers. In addition there was a outdoor dinng room but the Oct/Nov weather didn't allow us to try it.

Whilst Partenna might not have the charm of a Tuscan village, it is a great base for making excursions to the national parks, fishing villages and the beaches. Moreover, there are excellent supermarkets and a good pizzeria within walking distance.

Livia, our host, couldn't have tried more to make our stay a pleasure

PS: Google Maps does not list the road even though it is one of the more major roads in Partenna. If you can find the village square continue east after about 150m turn left at the Give Way sign and the property is about 1km up on the left.

“A hidden gem in the heart of western Sicily”

The spaciousnous of the villa accommodation and garden with a good sized pool is the first thing you appreciate on arriving at Vilia Livia. Myself, my wife and three adult daughters occupied 4 of the large well appointed double bedrooms including one in one of the two self-catered garden annex properties next to the villa. A large outdoor covered BBQ area next to the pool was used for many of our 'al fresco' evening meals beside the pool. The choice of where to sit down and eat a meal was vast. A choice of 4 locations outside, an enormous conservatory along one side of the villa and at least 3 different dining locations inside the villa meant we ware spoilt for choice. Although we were only 5 , with a larger party there would be no difficulty in finding your own space amongst the choice of rooms in this three storey property. Partanna itself is off the tourist track with only a limited number of sites for visitors to see. However, you are well positioned to visit beaches on the south or north coasts as well as coastal towns on the west. When you visit Trapani make sure you take the cable car up to the hill-top village of Erice and avoid the middle of the day heat when you visit the vast temple sites at Selinunte and Agrigento. It is also easy to reach the wine centres of Menfi and Marsala. Owners Livia and Filippo could not have been more kind, hospitable and helpful. Minor issues with the much used wi-fi and one of the showers were very promptly dealt with and Livia was always only a text message away. Picking figs from the tree, and enjoying prickly pear for the first time, added to the enjoyment of the well-tended garden full of date palms, fruit trees and luscious lawns with a wonderful heated pool in the middle. Even during the two days we had rain, the villa offered a stunning panoramic view of the approaching storm clouds from a top floor room.
Overall Villa Livia in certainly a property we hope to return to with a larger group of extended family as an ideal place to both stay and relax and a base to see parts of the magnificent Sicilian countryside.
