Lovely large clean villa with great views, quiet location and fabulous pool. However, lacking in basic equipment such as enough loungers for the number of guests, kettle, sharp knives, decent glasses, grater, peelers etc which is annoying when you're only there for a week. We ended up buying a grater and bread knife.
Large supermarket is about 30 km away so best to stop off on way from Porto. Fresh milk not available at small local shops, amazingly!

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed you were not completely satisfied with your stay at my house. I already bought more loungers. This way, every guest will have one lounger. Concerning the kitchen utensils I am surprised because my guests usually tell me they are enough.

We stayed in this house for a week and would have liked to stay longer. The view of the Douro is magical. The house is huge and very comfortable, and had everything that we needed. We were five people and we enjoyed eating on the terrace but also it was easy to find privacy when we wanted it. Palmira and her family were welcoming (and Catarina translated beautifully). They provided fruit and vegetables fresh from the garden, and cooked us a wonderful Portuguese dinner. We hope to go back

The villa is in really excellent condition with full amenities, with one of the cleanest swimming pools I've encountered, set high up offering amazing views. Quite quick to get to from Porto though the roads can get a bit twisty and narrow. A 10min drive to Ancede village gets you to a supermarket, bakery and butchers plus a no-frills restaurant used by the locals offering fantastic authentic Portuguese fare. Our highlight of the holiday was when ‘Master Chef’ Palmira cooked us a traditional Portuguese roast dinner – this is a thing a not to be missed! The walks down to the river are well worth the effort, very scenic. There is also a train station and marina close by.
