Having never been to Camber Sands before and being told it was 'the' place to take dogs, I booked a weekend for myself, my 14 year old son and 4 dogs. After a horrendous journey from London, I was greeted by John the concierge who showed us around the home and gave us a quick guide about how to get to the beach (less than 5 minute walk away) and which pubs/restaurants allowed dogs. I was stunned by the clean, calm decor of the home and the 'come and relax' feel of the rooms. Every need was taken care of and the added 'touches' were special including a welcome basket full of delights for both human and dog. The house is fully equipped with WiFi, plasma TV, Ipod deck, board games and all mod cons in the kitchen, large decadent beds and 2 equally decadent bathrooms. Despite the fact, Sandy Paws is within a beach house development, you rarely hear anyone and there are no nightclubs nearby. Sandy Paws made me and my dogs want to 'chill' as my 14 year old son said and did!
If I had one complaint it would be about Camber itself.. Don't shop there. Not only because there isn't alot of choice but also because they are very snotty and rude to outsiders. Rye on the other hand, which is a short drive away, is lovely and very friendly.
Tips: try the Green Owl pub just round the corner. Warm, good food and dog-friendly.
Make sure you read the notices before you go on the beach as there are dog-restricted areas (still left miles of beach for my lot) between may and September. And make sure you walk the dunes, a great workout for all!
