Stayed at the George Inn in Croscombe being a good location for exploring Somerset. Thoroughly recommend this Inn, we stayed four nights and it felt like home from home. The food was outstanding, very good chef. The room very comfortable. The landlord Peter,Veryan and all the staff made us extremely welcome. Will most definitely return. Curry night last Thursday of the month.

We booked a wake at the pub as it is close to the local crematorium. The food, drink and service was absolutely outstanding and very good value.
My sister stayed overnight and said the accommodation was brilliant as well.
We popped back the next day to say thanks (and have another meal !) and were again made very welcome.
It's about 45 minute drive for us, but we will definitely be going back - a very special pub.

We stayed here for 3 nights recently. The location of this Inn was ideal for us to visit Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar. The Inn is obviously a popular venue for locals. The food was delicious with a good choice of dishes. Our room was spotlessly clean & comfortable with an en suite bathroom. Veryan & David are the charming proprietors who were most attentive and friendly. We would certainly recommend this Inn to others.

Room tip: Room 1 is lovely.

Thank you for your comments, Catherine from Wales. We're glad you found your stay comfortable with great food and a friendly welcome. We are very popular with the locals and we're pleased you liked it too. We work hard to keep the rooms spotlessly clean and I'm glad you noticed.

With best regards, Veryan

We were a party of four from the west of Ireland staying at the Old Hall in Croscombe at mid September. We decided to treat ourselves to breakfast at the George - not without trepidation, having breakfasted before at a variety of second rate eateries. But at the George we were pleasantly surprised. Here was a house where the landlord enjoys the company of his guests. No clinically correct corporate style hospitality but a genuinely friendly inn where we were made welcome the moment we entered the door. A lovely black dog (Magic?) greeted us and walked us to our table. The landlord and staff chatted to us pleasantly but not obtrusively. The ambience was relaxing. And the food? Perfect!

A very old pub in the main street of an ancient stone village two or three miles from Wells. A spruce, comfortable, well-renovated bedroom and bathroom up a short, steepish flight of stairs from the back bar. The food was a cut above: a breakfast of particularly good-quality ingredients, and restaurant-grade food at lunchtime and in the evenings. Interesting ciders. Very friendly, helpful staff, and moderate prices. We had a very agreeable two-night stay.
