Good quality food and service. A pleasant choice for lunch or dinner with seating both inside and out. Fish, meat including rabbit, kid and Iberian pork. Starters also all great if prefer something more akin to tapas. Will definitely come back.

This is a pretty little restaurant with a very good reputation. Bread rolls arrived with both red and green sauce and a small bowl of olives and pickled garlic (delicious). Three of us ate here with two choosing the lamb chops whilst I had sea bream. The bream was lovely but hard work, as it was not filleted. It came with the usual three very small potatoes and salad. Every time I had salad anywhere it was the most basic (old English) sort; that is lots of iceberg lettuce, two small pieces of tomato, two small pieces of cucumber, a few shreds of onion and topped with raw carrot shreds. The sauces were very good. The waiter was a very charming young man whom, when serving others could transport a dozen plates of foot and a wine cooler complete with wine and a small table! The chef was an equally charming older man. The décor is very pleasant and comfortable and the road views uninspiring but ameliorated by potted plants. Unfortunately the lamb chops, while tasty were grisly and very undercooked for our liking… the fashion for ‘pink’ lamb is just that, a fashion… its pinkness should not mean it is undercooked, which this was.

On a second visit we had a bit of a disaster... I asked for my meal to be cooked 'sin sal' without salt. The sea bass arrived with unsalted fried but the bass was so salty I couldn't eat it. Fortunately I swapped for my son-in-law's squid and he enjoyed the salty bass. However, the squid was over cooked and like eating rubber.

Having said this the staff were very apologetic about the fly in our bottle of water (taken off bill) and the salt issue and we heard them castigating the chef. We were all given an ice cream as we left with further apologies.

This service made up for our disappointment to some extent

10 of us were staying locally and decided to try El Tenique for dinner.
We arrived at around 8pm and there was only one person there having dinner on the terrace. We were shown to a table for 10 and sat down to find all the plates that were already on the table were incredibly dusty.
Drinks orders were taken promptly and we perused the menu with some humour. It is a very meat-heavy menu with meals such as RABBIT. That's all it said, no clue about how it was cooked or what it came with. Also, BABY KID. Perhaps we are too squeamish in the U.K. Anyway, most were happy to order meat, but a couple opted for fish of the day to ensure freshness and I was sticking with the Spanish omelette. Call me unadventurous.
The meals arrived and they were certainly generous portions. Huge slabs of meat on the plates.
The person who had chosen sea bass was mightily unimpressed. It bore no resemblance to sea bass and was generally pretty grim.
At this point a couple of other guests had appeared and from then on it was very hard to get the attention of the waiter.
At one point the chef emerged from the kitchen to go to the toilet. He entered wearing his blue gloves. He exited wearing his blue gloves.
A couple of our group wanted a dessert. The menu said something like almond volcano. What arrived was very strange. It looked like a brown silicone mound and when it was eventually sawn into some melted chocolate trickled out. The outer part was so rubbery as to be inedible.
We asked for the bill and when doing so it was pointed out to the waiter that they had actually brought a chocolate volcano, not almond (we hadn't been able to catch their attention before this). He said they had sold out of almond, so brought a chocolate one anyway.
It took three times of asking to get the bill.
I should point out that only a couple of people had a glass of wine as we were all staying at the local fitness camp and were taking part in a very long bike ride the next day. I'm trying to say, we were not a rowdy drunk group of 10 by any stretch of the imagination.
Everyone was very pleased and surprised to wake up the next morning without any tummy trouble.
I'm guessing we caught them on a bad day as the reviews on here are generally pretty positive.

This really is a lovely , and popular restaurant . The waiters did a really good job, very courteous and professional , but they are backed up by a really good chef , we had some great food, divine steaks , great kebabs ,and their homemade catalan caramels, all really good .
