We chose to have a meal at Knights as we were staying at the Stamford. We were pleasantly surprised by the high standard as you never know with a restaurant being part of a hotel what the standard of food is like.
The wait staff were excellent - attentive but not overly so.
The meals of pork belly, steak, Kingfish and sticky date pudding were cooked to perfection.
I would highly recommend a visit (even if you are not staying at the Stamford) as the food is lovely and there is a good wine list.
Bon appetite

Visited knights a couple times while staying at Stamford Plaza. Not too bad, you could probably do better for the same price (or maybe a little less) outside of the hotel. No real complaints, especially as it was all company expenses ;) but I would go out of my way to eat here if visiting Auckland and not staying at the hotel. Great service however!!

Same quality of food everyday, a lot of food items are not served even after an hour of opening. salt and pepper shakers not on the table one morning, next is the missing milk jug on few tables. The young Hungarian exchange student waitressing was fantastic , very friendly and polite. she was the only one working the others were looking around but not helping her. one good thing was the fresh fruit and NZ cheeses, loved them.
the decor is very outdated , kitchen staff without a smile is very unusual. a smile doesnt cost anything but it makes everyone feel good and we can pass it around.
Miso Soup was always just warm , soup bowls and spoons missing and i was told they are waiting for them from another restaurant. coffee was just luke warm which i hate and same goes for the soup.
it is more like 3 star then a 5. please spice it up with a little variety for the people that eat there every day of the stay.

We were meeting with a guest in the hotel so figured this would be a good place to have the meeting. Joe, the barman was super attentive, even calling our guest in his room as we were there early. Great service. A credit to the establishment. we didn't eat a meal here so can't comment on the food (They did give us complimentary chips though!)
