Great to see a local pub so busy. Front of house by two ladies who were charming and jovial in equal measure. The food and decor has improved considerably since our last visit albeit that was a few years ago. Despite a couple of large parties in the restaurant delaying service the beer (cumbria way) went down very nicely whilst we waited.
Good pub food served with a smile and a roaring fire. What more do you need on a Saturday night ?

Thank Jon M

Not often I leave a poor review but I really hate going out for tea and coming home disappointed. The pub is lovely and quaint and the staff are nice enough. Food is poor though. It was steak night so my partner ordered the sirloin steak, med-rare. It came well done, tough and tasteless. The fat wasn’t rendered down at all and it hadn’t been seasoned. It really did look grim. It came with a half cooked tomato, some greasy mushrooms and some chips (which were the best part of the meal). I ordered lasagne, which was nice. But the chips it came with were hardly cooked, very hard and the garlic bread was so soggy. I also asked for some mayonnaise which never came. I don’t want to sound pedantic but it really was just poor all round. Wish we’d cooked at home.

The home made pies are well know locally and combined with a good beer selection and warm and welcoming staff and surroundings make this a great option close to Pooley Bridge and Ullswater.

We ate here nearly every night, during our recent week's stay in a nearby cottage. What a warm welcome we received! Such a lovely team of staff. The food was great, the fire was roaring and our two little boys loved playing pool every evening! Super homemade food, including a children's menu and a wide selection of ales. The Queen's Head has such a welcoming atmosphere and it's no wonder that it's busy every evening. Thank you everyone for looking after us!
