Introduced to us by my Vancouverite cousin, I have to say that this place is hard to beat for coffee and desserts. During our 3 week visit, we paid a total of 4 visits to the little Cafe in North Van, and were always hanging out for the next visit, especially to eat their Crispy Chocolate Raspberry log. The coffees were always consistent and the lattes which I ordered, very well made and smooth. We were there for lunch one day, and even their lunch options were mouth watering (and tasted even better when eaten!).

Do pay a visit, you won't be disappointed!

Went there for valentines day coffee and dessert. Based on the reviews we figured this is the place to be.

It was very busy - line up out the door!

Lattes were great! Yummy and they made a nice design! Food was just o-k but it is partially our fault because we each got a pastry. The almond croissant was extremely heavy - not flaky - it felt like we were eating a stick of butter. The cheese danish was good - well balanced and what u wud expect from a pastry.

In hindsight we should have tried their cake or macaroons which seemed like very popular choices. By the other patrons.

If we had more time in vancouver we wud go again and try their other items.

i'm a vancouverite. thomas haas is one of the best dessert places in vancouver. it's always busy! lots of people, long line up. it's better to arrive before 2pm so you can lots to choose from. anytime after 3pm, there will be very limited items left for you to choose.

Of the 4 reviewers of the Thomas Haas Cafe's in Vancouver, BC so far, strangely enough, 2 were exited, 2 the opposite. I have to admit, considering Thomas Haas's excellent reputation as a Pastry Chef, his 2 cafe's are an odd setup. One is located in an industrial area ( there are some schools nearby ) in the Eastern parts of North Vancouver, the other one is on Broadway, way- way-out toward the University. Both cafe's are small, with very limited and cramped seating. These cafe's do not represent European Coffee House Culture, where you can sit down in a quiet corner, enjoying your Cappuccino, a newspaper and free WiFi, wasting the time away. For that experience you will have to visit one of the numerous, cozy coffee shops, that seem to dot all of Vancouver neighbourhoods. My feeling is, that Thomas Haas concentrates mainly on take-out and catering. His cafe's are closed Sundays and Mondays. A cafe' closed on a Sunday ?? The remaining days only open until 17.30 ?? All that being said, my wife and I have 2 MUST, whenever we stay in Vancouver, first a visit to a Thomas Haas Cafe', and then a trip to the restaurant of " The Steamworks Brewing Co. " in Gastown ( Downtown Vancouver ). Service at both cafe's is excellent and friendly, the cake slices are amazing creations, as are the sandwiches. Hot drinks are reasonable priced, anything chocolately is expensive. I am not pretending to be a chocolate expert, like the reviewer from California. I do not have a clue about Vairhona chocolate, nor about Ganaches's gummy texture, bubbles and blooms. But I do recognize, when things taste exceptionally well. The next time you are in Vancouver and you are suffering from a " sweet tooth " visit a Thomas Haas Cafe'. You won't be disappointed !

We stopped by for a quick snack and tea. we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the chicken sandwich and the spicy sausage sandwich. The ginger and lemon drink was delicious and refreshing. The Chocolates we tried, the white chocolate truffle with passion fruit was superb.
