The Silver Creek Lodge, on the edge of Canmore and near access to the highway to Banff, provided excellent accommodations in terms of size of rooms, cleanliness, views of the mountains, and helpfulness of staff. Nearby there were numerous places to get a good meal. Actually, I preferred Canmore to Banff as the traffic is not nearly as bad and the views are equally as good. There are nearby trails for hiking. The Silver Creek Lodge also has underground parking, which was great for unloading bags and for safety. Our trip to the region was definitely enhanced by our stay at the Lodge.

Room tip: Get a room facing toward the mountains.

When paying a couple hundred dollars to stay in a room you would expect the room to have everything you need (blankets, wash cloths, a stereo that works), sadly this was not the case. My friends and I did not notice there were no blankets for the pull out couch until the night we pulled it out. When we called the front desk we got a recording that no one was at the desk until the next morning. There was a number to call incase of late check in, which we called and someone did come over. The woman told us she did not have keys to the linen closet and was very quite rude about it (Im guessing because it was 11pm and we had inconvenienced her). I asked her what we were suppose to do with no blankets and she had a very rude response. We ended up sleeping on the pull out coach in bath robes. Moral of the story...bring your own blankets to a hotel you pay $200 a night for.

Overall good stay and nice hotel. I like the location, the view from balcony and big bathroom ect. We did have a bit of trouble of how to run tv and dvd player, the person that was on in evening did not seem to know how things worked so that was too bad as we did want to watch a movie.

Room tip: Front desk should know how to work the TVs and remotes, and Dvd player

Great potential but need updating and brightening. The rooms were very dark and outdated. Needs lighter paint, new baseboards and complete overhaul. The front counter service was very slow and the gal there seemed a bit overwhelmed. Elevator was really slow also. Food in the sushi restaurant was superb as was the service.!

We booked this room when we attended a friend's wedding. The room was nicely furnished and clean! The location was accessible to downtown as well as some other amenities by walking (in nice weather) or a short drive. The only issue was the sound from the connecting room next door was slightly noticeable.
